I went to `re-install` my game the other day and the old pc was warm, dvd rom quite warm as it gets hot here in Oz. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Well anyways dvd rom wouldn't read the smp dvd, yet it read other games, wouldn't read it at all, anyway next morning it read it but WOW only just, checked the dvd no sracthes marks or anything. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

Is it possible the data on the dvd is becoming corrupt, can it become corrupt, your help on this matter would be appreciated. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

More likely that your drive is getting cranky.

Now, you did say "`re-install`" . . .
Maybe your software on the machine has changed and you are having security problems. Did you install the interem patch (`pre-1`.01) that was supposed to deal with DVD security issues?

As a lark, I tried it. Made the `start-up` quite interesting. Maybe you need to try this (Hope not).

Does the program do this every time you play? or just when you `re-install`?

I did have one time the PC was getting warm, and me and my friend were playing GTA 2. (It's a while ago). Anyway after about an hour of play we heard a loud bang and the game froze. I looked at my PC and I saw pieces of the CD sticking trough yes trough my CD drive. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

Yeah dude funny you should say that, I had `un-installed` game as I had patched it and then found that trainers didn't work anymore so when I went to `re-install` the dvd drive wouldn't read the dvd <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />
