What's your favorite ship?

What's your favorite ingame ship?

Mine is the Corvette. Or if you can get one the ManOWar.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

Captain Gwynn,
Corvettes are beauties all right, but I tend to hang onto a frigate or a super-frigate most of the the time, especially with a Rafe Bligh weathered skin. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2up" border="0" alt="thumbs1.gif" />

The only time I change ships is if I get into a big battle and my current ship is so shot up that I have to abandon it for the captured one, again usually I'll opt for a frigate if one is available.

Tell me, how do the corvettes stand up to the forts? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" />

I tend to sell the Man O' Wars as fast as I take them. Trying to avoid getting hit by their boardsides and boarding them are about all I personally find them good for, but I think Catalina keeps one around as a supply/heavy back up ship in her fleet.

Skull is the only one I know of that has taken a Man O'War with a gunboat, which strikes me as being a pretty neat trick! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

But it does pack quite a punch against forts, and it adds an extra challenge with its slowness, sometimes, If your up against 20 class1 ships.

I prefer the Corvette MM. It is fast, and has enough firepower for me. I previoulsly sailed a MoW, the "Gabriel Archangel", but I switched after being blasted away by 'vettes for the 6333435626th time. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Xebecs or Schooners at the beginnig

Light Frigates or Supertfrigates afterwards

Battleships for big battles (the manowar is too slow and with too few accelaration)
With BB and Manowar I use long range gunfire against more agile ships, as the arc widens, thay can' avoid, and those broadsides can cripple a corvette in one shot

Aye mates, all fine ships fer sure, but fer me own personal tastes,I'd be sail'n American Fast Schooner,a fine pirate ship she makes, fast an nimble fer board'n an loot'n an such, turn on a dime an gives ye a nickel back, not powerfull enuff ter take on nasty forts, but she eats MOW fer breakfeast wid a good crew an cap'n <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

fast schooner, preferably pirate built - i think they are somewhat faster and more agile:)

the most beautiful ship in the whole game:)

Ahhh! Sir chris me friend,an' mate, true enuff Skelly Bob's gunboat an me small crew managed ter plunder a gloriuos MOW, but if truth be told,I'd be have'n a slight advantage O' sail'n POTC fer a lenghty time,so Ol' Skull an his crew knows every dirty trick like a pirate should , an should I ever meet ye on de high seas me friend an scholar,I'd not want anyhing more from ye than yer handhake an friendship an all de snakebite ye can handle <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
Zarith,, yer right mate, she' is a beautiful ship, thar be some great ships reskinned by diffrent modders fer de game,Rafe Bligh rekinned some Glorious ships,Catalinas Xebec is another, but never ferget mate,it'd be de crew, officers an de cap'n what makes a ship werk effiecent no matter what yer sail'n, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Harrr! cap'n gwynn, ye jest made an Ol' pirate blush, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

My favorite ship is the one I just stole, whatever it may be. But I'll admit to a certain fondness for that light frigate, and also for the xebec CT. That xebec kicks ass if you can capture on early. (I'm far too cheap to buy one. I'd rather spend the money at the blacksmith and on rum.)

Xebec CT, although it's not powerful for beating forts, it does well when I want to attack anything but the most largest of ships. I attack to board. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

I think the sloop is the best. Very fast and good maneuverability. Not so much firepower, but I usually board enemy ships.

I like the lines of the Xebec CT and it can hold its own against anything below frigate level if you like boarding with it and have the gun upgrades. The Xebec in Pirates of the Burning Sea looks absolutely amazing, cannot wait to get that one out of the harbour. I like the Corvette MM and Frigates if I am up against fleets with big warships.

It IS fun to take a HUGE ship with a really tiny one. Try it in the Tartane, with NO GUNS! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I like the Light Frigate, Dutch or English built, for a combination of speed, crew size, manuverability. Super Frigate is second choice. Of the smaller ships xebec CT is the best.

None of these will take down a fort on their own in my experience.
