What's your poison - Employment, Trading or Piracy?

What's your favourite method of making money and why?

1) Employment - Doing jobs for people.
2) Trading - Importing/Exporting.
3) Piracy - Capturing Ships and Cargo.

My choice is number 3 for the following reasons:

Gameplay is great.
Option to increase my squadron size.
Money made. I can net (on a good capture) 20k in cargo, plus another 30k if I sell the ship.

i normally make myself fat and rich off a combination of 1 & 2, then when i have a fleet of manowars, turn to 3 and unleash them on the world <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> 's how i used to play <i>elite</i> and <i>frontier</i>, too... i wish they would make a modern version of those... and civilisation, really, come to think of it.

Privateering, that´s one and three, with some trading intermingled sometimes. I beg to note I´m NOT a pirate, I´m a mercenary, that´s not quite the same.
 
I suppose strictly speaking, I am a mercenary too - I sail for the English until they get mad at me, and then I generally sail for the Portuguese (because I like them!). My first inclination in the game is to not tell Silehard about the invasion of Oxbay for a long while - this way I can beat up on both the pirates AND the French - then when I play the main quest I get the English mad at me and beat up on them for a while... Just makes the game more fun for me, and *quite* lucrative... I like hitting a larger ship with my Xebec CT... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
