Who wants the REAL Caribbean as a model to roam?

Very good!
... apart that North is pointing South, and West East... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

I dont quite understand. Is the case, that the AoP islands are bigger than those of PotC and therefore we use all of the new islands in the worldmap, in order to keep the perspective? We are not going to replace any ingame islands, are we?

This is going to take a lot of time, many files will need to be changed in order to put a label and locators on these new islands, Islands_init.c, seadogs.c and all...And who can incorporate the new islands in these files? According to Pieter Boelen, only Maximus can do it, but he is not around very often.

I'm sorry but I don't understant what you mean by Jamaica. In fact in 3D sailing, if this new worldmap is used, I'll have to change coordonates islands and surely modify CCC program. The good thing is islands have "collisions", so it will be a little bit "easy" to do that. Hope I answered your question.

Edit: I think I can try to do that , PeterWillemoes. I already put an island with its town in the game some days ago, who wasn't on the worldmap, but now THERE ARE 19 islands (if I count well) on the worldmap. So I think I can do something with that.<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" /> Sure it will get some time...!

I changed the windrose and now I think it's good:

<a href="http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq176/Philippe_album/seadogs2_00016.jpg" target="_blank">http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/qq176/P...dogs2_00016.jpg</a>

Now I think I gonna try attribute names to islands as fair as possible.

Haha amazing!
Yeah, I think you can do that. To me, it is one big, incoherent mess <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

What do you mean by mess? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

So how did you solve this issue?
The question is important to me because in my sunrise/sunset mod I use ship worldmap coordinates for giving 'latitudes' and 'longitudes' values into my formulas. So if we'll have the map upside down, I'd prefer to be aware of it - it would just requires minor changes to my code anyway.

Cause I'm not able to work a 3D program, I just took Windrose in AoP! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Didn't change something else. But I'll have to change coordinates in Worldmap.init to put right names to islands. What do you think about it?

The file structure in the existing code in PotC regarding island implementation and altering.

North and South were correct in the original game, but the Build 13 islands are turned 180 degrees for whatever reason and to not make that too apparent, I turned the compasses accordingly as well.

It wasn't a problem. I'd like to know what I must do with islands position as Oxbay or Falaise de Fleurs who aren't on a map, or Eleuthera wich is in Bahamas sea ( and so should be renamed to be in caribbean). Redmond is also Jamaica (on top of the map). It's a little difficult to assign a place who would aggree for all.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thwalkplank.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":walkplank" border="0" alt="thwalkplank.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/monkeydance.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mi" border="0" alt="monkeydance.gif" />

And so, Thomas for Jamaica I don't know what would be the best.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Hello, here are some screenshoots of worldmap:

I renamed Eleuthera to St Kritts and Bonaire/Douwesen to St Vincent. I think I'll move Cozumel on the left of Aruba, so the present place could be a pirates' island. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Looking good, are the existing towns linked now? To an island and on a right place, because I could see a town floating around.

Not yet! I have to do it now, but waiting islands are in good positions.

Oh, and St Kritts, is in fact St KITTS <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Dont know how you managed to do it, philippe. Its impressing work.

Somebody oughta throw a "modder"-tag after this guy...

Just a moment <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Welcome to the Modders group, philippe, you're doing some good job here !
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

The island you called St Vincent looks a lot like Granada... I think the unamed island NW of Guadeloupe is Monserrat, and the one between this one and Martinique is Canouan (with Charleston).

This map is of course better than the one we currently have, but I hope one day we will be able to make our own. I don't like the way a lot of islands have been rescaled in this one. Of course, Cuba must be reduced to fit in the small area we have - but look how Guadeloupe is small on this map compared to St Kitt, Nevis and Monserrat! And where's Dominique? And hell, isn't Saint Martin huge on this map?... Isn't it supposed to be a very, very tiny island of no real importance?

Question : are you going to add coordinates & names for some islands we currently have (such as Bonaire) and that doesn't appear on the new map? I would find it sad to loose one of the ABC islands... And that could allow us to keep stock PotC islands in some places.

I've tried a little experiment !

Apparently, islands.gm can be easily edited with Inez Tool !
...but all collision data is lost in the process. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dp_nogd.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ng" border="0" alt="dp_nogd.gif" />

Hello! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" /> This news is a great pleasure for me. Thanks a lot!!

"Question : are you going to add coordinates & names for some islands we currently have (such as Bonaire) and that doesn't appear on the new map? I would find it sad to loose one of the ABC islands... And that could allow us to keep stock PotC islands in some places."

All islands aren't on worldmap cause I've to create them before in islands_init.

For Bonaire there were two ways: put Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire but Aruba would have been below Jamaica. So I prefered rename it and it's now St Vincent, Eleuthera (who wasn't in Caribbean) is now St Kitts (and no Kritts <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )... I tryed to place islands as well as possible, not by size (I'm not able to do that) but by logic. That's true worldmap isn't very correct, but I tell in my mind worldmap is also precise than a XVIth century map. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o)
