Whom to visit in town in what order ...

Bumsrush

<span style='font-size:9pt;line-height:100%'>Trying to work out the balance of where to go in town.

If I'm going to sell a ship, <span style='color:darkred'><i><b>I go to the Merchant first (business before pleasure) and sell my goods (if price and his gold are enough), then to Shipwright and drop a captured treasure ship say, then to Governor for potical kiss-ass and reward and wooing a Daughter, then to Tavern - first to Barkeep, then Barmaid twice (defeat Captain of Guard if necessary), then Stranger, make choice, then pick Recruits if needed, then Barmaid and/or Barkeep again.</b> </i></span> This order seems pretty logical were it real life, and so far I'm getting more money, cheaper upgrades, more promotions (if I've served that nation recently) and dancing (prettier girls require hhigher rank), and more useful objects, crew, and fame.

Give it a try and/or please advise on your habit.

This game is sooo freakin' RICH!</span>

I think it´s moe efficient to go like this:
- Tavern (mysterious stranger)
- Tavern (Barmaid/Guard Captain)
- Tavern (Barkeeper)
- Tavern (recruiting)
- Governor
- Merchant
- Shipwright

The reason is, for the tavern order, that there is a chance that one of the Evils spawns in the town you are in if you talk to the Stranger first, so when you talk to the Barkeeper, you have the possibility to fight him. As well, you might get a gift for the daughter from the Stranger. If you duel the Guard Captain, you can recruit more men, so it´s logical to do that first and the recruiting as the last step in the tavern.
Whether you visit the merchant and shipwright (in that order) before going to the governor doesn´t matter, but it makes sense to visit the tavern first. Although I have to admit, I usually visit the governor first, an old habit from Pirates! Gold.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> I usually drops in on th Gov; if the Old Boy comes up with a promation then I can take advantage of the better deals in ship repair and recuitment. Ive found its a good ider ta check out the crew morale after I's spent sum of the ships fund on upgrades. Towards the end of a long cruise; the crew starts whining evertime I puts
out a halfpenny.

Yeah, thanks; there might be an ill effect in the Tavern or slowdown of fame points if you go to the Goverenor first and happen to dance with Daughter, but flub it - <span style='color:green'><i><b>so many great compexities in this rockin' game !!!</b></i></span>

Btw: Don't reject every plain daughter; she may value your attention more with better clues, demand fewer luxuries if ye be savin' yer gold, and the dancing is easier. DO BUY the Cafskin Boots and Dancing Slippers - they automatically correct a few dancing flubs if yer a bit clumsy.

So basically visit the order listed (may be sort of a built-in game assist like elesewhere). Thanks all for the good tips.

Experienced crew at sea is better, but they might have alrady been at sea for awhile and lose morale quicker, even when you're "winning."

EVERYTHING in this fine game is a trade-off. Fascinating! Kudos to designers and testers!

<b>GOOD REMINDER</b>

Make a distinct point to strategically and often Save/Re-load your scenario, such as after before and perhaps after (reload) Governor and result of Dance - same with consequential sea and land battles and duels, encounter with Villians or resuced Family Member.

<span style='color:darkred'><i><b>Save prior to and Reload after dependin' on yer mood and investment in yer character EVERY significant achievement/interlude.</b></i></span>

As everything is a trade-off, showin' yer proper "respect" fur them Powers-that-Be yields handsomely, as opposed to trucking right to the guildman fer bargains - when, if the Town and Governor are sufficiently friendly and wealthy, goin' thrrrough yer raight channels be workin' m'best!

Aye mate's,have'n a strategy help's a lot if ye want te climb de fame ladder,ur if ye be like me an jest go fer de rum an wench's an de 'ell wid de rest <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Yes, there are so many of yer'vicarious or even yer'native "MORAL" levels on which to base yer journey - and they change in tha game as, perhaps in "real-life" sumtime, and it's HILARIOUS and O SO TRUE that ye ALWAYS be comprimisin' sumthin'!

My order of visiting towns is as follows.

Bar
Merchant
Shipwright

I never visit governors as I play a strict pirate and attack everybody. So getting into towns to visit some of these places is needless to say difficult at times.I have to rely on pirate towns for the most part to get what I need.

For me:

-Governor
-Crew hiring
-Mysterious stranger dude
-Barmaid
-Barkeep
-Merchant
-Shipwright

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

If you are playing the US version without a patch, you HAVE to fight the annoying captain before hiring the crew at the tavern (if you hire the crew first, there will be no new men to hire after the duel as there should be). This was fixed with the buggy patch, however, and you can now do things in any order you like (there will be 10 men to hire after the duel even if you already hired the first batch).

My order is:

Governor,
Tavern,
Merchant,
Shipyard

Most often I visit them all, but, of course, there are situations where I don't want to, or there's no use visiting them all. Especially if you want to keep all the captured daughters to yourself (don't want to return them to their fathers) you have to keep track of which govs you can visit and which you cannot... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Does keeping the daughters do anything good? I mean, in the game, not in your imagination... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
