why my health always poor??

Hello alexjojo <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Doesn´t your character start with 18 years and fine health? If not that´s really strange. Ever started a char with the medicine skill? If all that doesn´t help try the megatrainer 0.64 from Chronowerxx.

Technically, you should start your career at 18 years old and in excellent health. As you age, your health worsens up to failing state. Once you reach that health level, you're not far from your forced retirement.

Do you loose alot of sword fights? Do you get hit alot during the sword fights?

It would be great if you could actually improve your health too, instead of just degrading it. Like starting to eat healthy food, get lots of fresh air (don't know how to NOT get fresh air as a pirate), dance more than just pirating. It would be nice if we could balance things out ourselves. If we decide to do a lot of pirating, fighting, plundering etc, the health should of course degrade, as it does now. And it should be possible to improve it too. The way it is now, if it's poor, it's poor. Not possible to change other than getting even worse.

It's like in real life. You can just attain a Status Quo. And with the <i>modern 17th century medicine</i>, you should rejoice if you suffer a <b>single</b> wound and live to tell about it!

It´s not very realistic if you don´t age or get a single wound out of a sword fight or any other battle. Maybe someone could implent some medicine or so that you can change it back a bit if your health is bad or worse. But your are a pirate not a immortal highlander. Be proud of your wounds. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Then again this game is far from being realistic anyway. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I guess it's just a habit of Sid, he somehow seems to dig the idea of some maximum playing time. Heck, even his Sim Golf came with a time limit of 50 years in it's first version.

Now you´ve said it... you´re right, every single one of S.M.´s games I know does have a time limit.
Starting out at 18 is rather early. In Pirates! Gold the starting age was 25 and a career lasted, if you were never sunk, foundered or captured, about ten years, and that long only if you had the medic skill.

Nope, e.g. Covert Action didn't have a time limit. Then again I guess not many poeple now that one (anymore). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I have the game right here in front of me. Original box, manual and disks. I never get rid of a computer game. Closets full of them.. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

Since Mr Meier first started with "Wild Bill" Stealy at Microprose, (the REAL Microprose, not the one today), I have bought every game of his since that day. Not including Sim Golf. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Yes, the company still exists. However they were bought by Hasbro Interactive which encompasses Microprose, Atari and Games.com.

Which in turn was bought by Infogrames in late 2000 early 2001.

You may visit www.microprose.com

I could be wrong about this. But its my understanding that this is correct. If I am wrong I am sure someone will squawk. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

The important thing is: if there still is a Microprose, it's just a hollow brand name like Atari, Sierra, Westwood and many many others. Oh well, as time goes by, I guess... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I was SOOOOOOOO upset when EA bought and then closed down Westwood Studios. Ahem, I mean, relocated them, bah..

From an interview with Bruce McMillan of EA. He is the Executive Vice President of Electronic Arts' worldwide studios.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Q: Confession time: what gives with the closure of pioneering studios like Westwood and Origin?

McMillan: On the surface, it looks like they're closed, but truth is we've brought many of the developers from these companies `in-house`. It's a way to give these teams resources, tools and accessibility to talent that they wouldn't otherwise have had. <b> If you want to call the Westwood founder and confirm it, it's cool...ask him what's going on in our `real-time` strategy space.  </b> The Westwood core team is working on the Lords of the Rings title, and we don't have any plans to give up on the Command & Conquer franchise. The key players are all still there.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
