Why oh why does pirates hate me?

Hey all! This would be my first post on this site and its a shame i have to start it on such a low note, but the fact it that pirates just doesnt want to work on my laptop. I've done just about everything possible that has been mentioned on other threads to try and fix this problem but nothings working. And so now, in desperation i turn to you fellow fans of pirates and other games where you get to run about and stab people.

my system is:
Windows Vista 32bit operating system
Processor: Genuine Intel® CPU T2080 @ 1.73GHz 1.73GHz
RAM: 1918MB
Graphics card: Ati Radeon Xpress 200m Intergrated
Game version: build 13
Those be my stats arrr...

Anyway! So far ive tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the game then reinstalling build 13 on top... Ive tried the modules folder trick, I've tried reinstalling then doing the modules folder trick then installing build 13! My MAPSPEED setting is 1.0, I tried to download the Omega drivers that were mentioned in the_salty_paul's posts but it says that they arent availiable for windows vista yet. And just from reading the posts it sounds like i have the absolute worst possible combination of circumstances.
For starters there are problems with vista... Then there are problems with Radeon cards... And to top it all off, I'm trying to run it on my laptop!
Please please PLEASE help me! I'm a HUGE fan of the game and its killing me that it doesnt work on my 'new and improved' laptop! Ive never had any problems before and am now currently kicking myself for getting rid of my old laptop. Any help will be much apreciated mates!

The game does run on Windows Vista for me, so that isn't the problem. Also you don't seem to have an onboard Intel graphics card, so that probably isn't the problem either. Does the game run before installing the modpack? What exactly happens when you try to run it?
 
But he does have integrated graphics and it is Radeon, which POTC is known to not like very much.
 
PotC doesn't like Radeon either? Wasn't sure about that. The only thing I knew was that PotC + Intel onboard graphics card is no good. Thanks Petros. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
 
Thank you both for replying! Ummm... Well it works fine up until i have to go through a loading screen. So transitioning from shore to sea, sea to worldmap etc. Then i have about a 70% chance that it crashes and takes me back to the desktop. And I havent ever tried to play it without build 13... or some form of build anyway, I dont know about you but personaly i think the original game is MUCH improved by all the mods... its almost not worth playing the game at all if you dont have them! I dont know if this is relevent, but when i did (another) reinstall of pirates and build 13 and used the RunMe.bat installer it said it:
Could Not Find e:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Pirates of the Caribbean\PROGRAM\DIALOGS\*.h (the asterix isnt a typo... could that be relevent)?
The system cannot find the file specified.
Could Not Find e:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Pirates of the Caribbean\PROGRAM\BuildSettings.h

And i dont think its a case of the graphics card being over loaded or anything as my laptop runs Dark crusade and Oblivion just fine, not on full settings or anything but it DOES run... Do you think its that i have to do some fancy trick with vista? The whole 'run this program on an older version of windows' thing?
 
That's strange. Disable <i>User Account Control</i> in the Control Panel, then install Build 13 again. Perhaps that does some good.
 
BuildSettings.h is a pretty darned important file. i'm sure it shouldn't remove that one, and it should be able to find it. strange thing is, without the file, the game doesn't run at all. (i discovered this from experience. or actually because i had the wrong version of the file installed)
 
How do i disable it exactly? Im still pretty new to vista... And the thing is BuildSettings.h is installed... so i have no idea why that error message is being displayed at all!
 
well, the setup file sometimes does that. it should be explained in the FAQ somewhere.
 
Thanks Morgan just reread the FAQ and noticed that little detail <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> in which case my problem now's just the crash between loading screens issue, and i have no idea what could be causing it...
 
BuildSettings.h is not supposed to be in the PROGRAM folder anymore.
If you can't find the setting, just open your Control Panel and type "User Account Control" in the search box. It should find it for you.
 
Did you try and play the game before installing the Build? If the game has the same issues then, it's not a problem in the Build installation process.
 
It does work when the build isnt installed... but its almost not worth playing without it... I was wondering, do i need to patch my version of POTC before i install build 13? What order should i install things in?
 
See <a href="http://s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods/downloads.htm" target="_blank">here</a> for the correct order. You can try downloading and installing Build 12.1 first and see if that does work. Then when it does, install Build 13 on top.
