why this game sucks as is, and needs mods like I need oxygen

speaking of which anyone know of any good piratey games in the horizon (this seem a good thread and POTC the movies are shceduled for 2006)??

real life sucks, and all I found are these bargain bin games coming from smaller/lesser known developers.

Pirates!

I bought the game a week ago and this is the first Pirates video game I have ever played. Until seeing this message board, I didn't even know it was a remake of an 80's game.

Anyway, the game is awesome. I am so addicted to it and even my wife has started playing it and she isn't even really into playing PC games.

Yes, there are some things that I would like to change on the game and some of the mods already out there have some of the changes. However, even without any mods the game is very fun and you can sit there and play it for hours.

the game is as good or better (in some cases) than the original. I think mate you missed the point the smp is just that. A revamp of the original, everyone knows this, it is meant to be fun, which it is, it is not to be taken to seriously, comparing it to POTC is just not right, they are two completly different games.

I suggest you try 'cuthroats terror of the high seas' that could do mostly everything your after, did you ever play this game?

If you're looking for a game with more depth, try Patrician III

Although that is more of a trading strategy game, you CAN also play the part of a pirate, although from a more strategic point of view. I also find that sea battles are much harder. Also, it has no dancing

It says here in the manual... that your Pirates! disc will make a "vastly" superior coaster if you scratch it up on the surface a bit... just to add some extra traction.
