Wind?

I own Tortuga/Pirate Hunter/Seize&Destroy (Which is the main name anyways?) but the wind in that was rather minor. For one the map was rather small and the wind had little effect on your speed, which was ok until I played the World of Pirates beta. The wind in that is awesome and I think all future pirate games should have a similar wind system, but my main question(s) is 'Is Pirates! going to have wind? Is it going to be insignificant or will it make a major difference?'

It will have wind and it will be insignificant in terms that you don't constantly have to worry about it.

And welcome to Pirates Ahoy! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

saw this in a preview. makes ya wonder why list it on the main screen if it's insignificant, hmmm...

BUT, I never said that it's a `non-issue`. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

okie dokie but my `merriam-webster` pretty much defines insignificant as:
  • don't worry about it
  • fugitaboutit
  • `non-issue`

    • anyway, besides the fact that Civrules has led us astray (<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />) does anyone <b>know</b> if wind speed and direction will factor into sea battles and sailing the seas (as it did so effectively in Cutthroats)?

      <edit>

      here's a clue:

      "<i>We headed off the coast, using a lightning storm to slingshot our ship into a battle against two enemy Spanish ships</i>"

In the original the wind was an issue to the extent that you had to know how to turn your ship (cannot remember the correct term) to sail against the wind. I'd be surprised if they removed this consideration since the rest of the game seems to carry the old old stuff pretty conscientously...

I heard too that there will be no wind in the game. I don`t like that either but in the old Pirates it was sometimes annoying because it took you sometimes very long if u had to sail against the wind. But i still would like it because it makes the game real. But i guess games now have to be more mainstream.

It's threads like these that cause problems, i.e. they are unresolved.

Apparently wind will be there, please see this post for an answer regarding wind...

(Now if the site admins would resolve all the sticky posts regarding bugs in PotC that have been since fixed, I would be a happy lamb indeed).
