I don´t know wheter anybody reads in here any more, nevertheless, I´d like to know what your preferred:
- Time period
- Country
- Skill
- Ship
- Weapon
is. For me it´s:
- 1640´s as these are the heyday of the freebooters and mercenaries
- England or France.
- Medcine. One can stay active for over ten years.
- Barque for the first years, then the frigate
- Longsword for "party" fights and the rapier for duels.

Time period = 1640 too because its the best period for english pirates <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Country = England and sometimes dutch
Skill = medcine for the same reason you said already
Ship = Barque because its in my opinion the best ship for sea battles.
Weapon = longsword because i like it the most

Nice to see there are still ome people in here.
One thing I forgot: The difficulty. For me, usually it´s Adventurer for me, though in my trip to the Silver Empire i´m a journeyman (it´s hard enough without this rebellious bunch the crew is at the higher levels)
