Hi everyone,
So excited about Age of Pirates comming out and even more delighted about East India Company with it's scope.
I want to say thank you first of all for having me here, I'm a wooden ship modeler and always loved the age of sailing naval warfare.
Will the player be able to play as other countries and which ones ? Which countries can we play in the game ?
I would really like to play as France and the Dutch East India Companies and even Swedish and Dansih East India companies and or Navies as the 1750 era is pivotal for these powers.
Other Major East India Companies
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danish_East_India_Company" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danish_East_India_Company</a>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_East_India_Company" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_East_India_Company</a>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_East_India_Company" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_East_India_Company</a>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_East_India_Company" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_East_India_Company</a>
And here are some of the other countries ships:
Swedish East Indiaman 'Gotheborg', 1745
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Indiaman_G%C3%B6theborg" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Indiaman_G%C3%B6theborg</a>
<a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e2/Ostindiefararen_G%C3%B6theborg_departure_from_Gothenburg_2005_oct_02_pic2.jpg" target="_blank">http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...oct_02_pic2.jpg</a>
Dutch East Indiaman 'Amsterdam' , 1749
<a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/26/VOC_Amsterdam.jpg" target="_blank">http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...C_Amsterdam.jpg</a>
<a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/VOC2.jpg" target="_blank">http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/VOC2.jpg</a>
French East Indiaman 'Duc de Duras' (Famous Bonhomme Richard of John Paul Jones, Continental Navy ), 1765
<a href="http://perso.orange.fr/gerard.delacroix/expo/Bonhomme/expo.htm" target="_blank">http://perso.orange.fr/gerard.delacroix/ex...nhomme/expo.htm</a>
Also how much exactly of the world is included ? I know it's over 40 cities and towns and am very impressed.
Also can we have subclasses of warships such as 38 gunner frigates and 44 gunners and 64 gunner ships of the line and 74 gunners, etc. Some Indiaman also carried 28 guns, some 36.
HMS Falmouth East Indiaman, 1752
<a href="http://www.euromodel-ship.com/modelli_gb/falmouth_gb.htm" target="_blank">http://www.euromodel-ship.com/modelli_gb/falmouth_gb.htm</a>
Also will there be an amount of player controlled vessels for line of battle engagements of say 8 vs. 8 or 12 vs. 12 naval battles ? How many ships can we control in a sea battle ?
Will there be differant cannon types, 36, 32, 24, 18,12, 8 and 4 pounder canonns ?
Also, the look of the ships in the preview while beautifull, resemble Napoleanic era ships. Will the look of the mid 18th century for the ships be polished up, open stern galleries, no "Nelson" yellow and black painted hulls.
Some examples of mid 18th century:
Danish Navy
