First attempts in skinning

So I'm working on adding Seb's battleship skin in as a separate model and this is the text I plan to add to the ship_int.c file,

a question; is this skin the "battleship skin improved" one?
if not switch it to that one instead, its been updated since the first black and yellow battleship, and Seb decidid that the updated one looked better.

Yes it's the improved one that I've been working with <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
And I'll be adding his other RN skins in as separate models as well as his French Battleship skin.
 
About the code: After looking at it quickly, nothing seems obviously wrong. I didn't test it though, so I can't be sure. You'd find out soon enough though if it's wrong. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
 
now, if only we could find a way to make sure that you don't encounter English battle ships with french flags on them, and vice versa
i wish we could get the English battleships to be English only, rather than dutch, french, portuguese, spanish and pirates
and the same for french battleships.
P.S: since we have several royal navy ships, i.e the black and yellow frigat, the black and yellow battleship, and the original sloop o war, why not put them as a set of ships with BRN [name of the ship], so that , for example, you go to the shipyard, and find BRN Battleship, BRN Sloop O War, BRN Frigate and so on.

it would make sure that some ships didn't have their names leaving the portrait square.
 
I think this may be possible, in the code in the ship_int file.
I'm new to this modding lark so I'm not entirely sure, but I'm going to give it a go.
 
what code makes sure that if your caught smuggling, you only face frigates when you go to sea?
maybe you could pick something up from that, though, that idea might be absolute rubbish, i wouldn't know, i can't mod.
 
You can add a .nation attribute to ships in ships_init.c, so the ships will only be used for England. This is very easy indeed. See Petros' Privateer entry: nation = PIRATE;
 
a light bulb just turned on: why not turn the fleet that attacks you at greenford into those ships?
and maybe the coastguard, when its set to a very high level? and in sea encounters with battle fleets?
i've got a feeling that this might not be as easy as that first one.

Commodore JPJ is a yank at heart, and i'm a royal navy/ pirate/ kuwaiti navy fan.
P.S: kuwaiti navy for two reasons
1) i love my country
2) the Kuwaiti Navy defeated a fleet of arab Pirates that the combined forces of the British Royal Navy AND the Ottoman Empire's navy couldn't beat, even though we had a much smaller navy than they did. the exact year of this naval battle between the mightiest pirate fleet in the middle east and the Kuwaiti Navy was 1783.
the pirates had things between the size of frigates and battleships [i told you they were the mightiest], and ours were no larger than schooners and chebecs/xebecs.

Perhaps when Seb gets a bit more time he could have a look at skinning some of the other nations ships in their national colours, I'll gladly have a crack at writing the code for them. Then there wouldn't be such a heavy RN slant to the game
 
Actually, here are my plans,

1)English Navy lineship
2)French Navy lineship
3)I promised a super frigate, I plan to make an english and a french version
4) then, after all that stuff :X i'll have a look on corvettes to complete those sets
5)Then, here we go for other nations, I put priority on the fleets i began to finish it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />


But in the meantime, i'll also have test and a probably very busy april month

with, trimestrial evaluations, my two films for my main exam in June to turn and to finish (i began them in september), a travel in Paris, and many things i don't know yet, my life is full of surprises, but

even if it takes time, you can count on what i promised, those days, i'll also rework a little my personnel Surprise skin that my be release if Inzane agrees <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

But if Build modpack comes to an <i>end point</i> as evocated, i should better <u>hurry</u>

One thing is certain: The Build will never stop as far as I'm concerned. When we stop adding stuff to the Post Build 12 modpack to bugfix it into Build 13, we can always make a Post Build 13 modpack.
