yeah, maybe some one could make Vasa and upload it and those who wants can download it.... But just telling you, Vasa in the caribbean? That ship Would NEWER ever sail to the caribbean cuz The swedish had no contact with people in the caribbean, they didn't care about caribbean.. I gave the idea about have a cursed Viking ship in the game but, now i realised, ITs just "LOL" XD Scandinavien and Caribbean, Don't fit together <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Maybe we could make that Vasa and edit that model and data a bit (like less cannons on the stern) and make the ship balanced virtually or in other words - making it more beliveable so the ship would have made it in real life ..I say we but Vasa in our game but we edit those stats so drastically for the Caribbean sailing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

You don't need to lecture me on history, I know full well that the Vasa would never have been seen in the Caribbean, nor was there ever a strong Swedish presence in the Caribbean. It was a simple offer of good reference pictures to the modders here for them to take it if they so choose. And just because you would never want to see it in-game doesn't mean there are others who would. Like Pieter continues to say, if someone would make it, it's up to individuals on whether or not they keep it in the game or not.

besides, realism isn't a must. i'd rather prefer a fun game than a realistic one. too much realism can be a bit of a nuisance.

I alway think when people say the Vasa was a great ship. I laugh. Yes it was a great looking ship. but it was as sea worthy as a brick. There where so many issues with her design. I have a book about the Vasa, It contains letters from people who built her and warned that she would sink under certain conditions. As you all know, No one listened and she sank. but thankfully we are able to see her today intact. It is a good example of what not to do, when it comes to Shipwrighting. it is not a good example of sea worthiness. As a example of the art and imagination of the builders of the period, it is a true testament of craftsmanship.
But I did have a funny Idea. when it comes to POTC or AOP. if someone was to build the Vasa. Some of you would not want to have this option, this may be something for the folks who are historically minded. Have the Vasa sink under the same weather conditions, And that would lead to a very short game or if your a good enough captain, try to avoid these pitfalls. storms would be certain death. semi rough seas again certain death.
the Vasa's weaknesses were and not limited to, a shallow keel, enormous weight, lower gun ports too near the waterline. these all played into her sinking. She only could be sailed on calm seas. so it would be a challenge to get her from point A to point B..

Why not? It's just another ship. I'm shocked at all this talk about realism, when at the same time we're coming up with cursed ships that can submerge and surface, as well as summon mythical creatures. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for that element of the game and would love to see the Flying Dutchman and other such elements added, I'm simply pointing out how flawed the realism argument can be.

It's not like we're making a total 100% historically accurate portrayal of the Caribbean at this time, as it sounds some of you would like to see. Granted for most issues I'm right along side, such as rigging configurations on period ships and so on. But an argument about a simple suggestion of a ship that would look pretty nice in game is ridiculous, in my opinion, especially when based on a double-standard of historical accuracy.

The short of it is this: There will be no Wasa model if nobody makes it. If somebody does make it, removing a ship from the game is relatively easy. Therefore there is no need for huge discussions for the merit of such a ship either way.
