I alway think when people say the Vasa was a great ship. I laugh. Yes it was a great looking ship. but it was as sea worthy as a brick. There where so many issues with her design. I have a book about the Vasa, It contains letters from people who built her and warned that she would sink under certain conditions. As you all know, No one listened and she sank. but thankfully we are able to see her today intact. It is a good example of what not to do, when it comes to Shipwrighting. it is not a good example of sea worthiness. As a example of the art and imagination of the builders of the period, it is a true testament of craftsmanship.
But I did have a funny Idea. when it comes to POTC or AOP. if someone was to build the Vasa. Some of you would not want to have this option, this may be something for the folks who are historically minded. Have the Vasa sink under the same weather conditions, And that would lead to a very short game or if your a good enough captain, try to avoid these pitfalls. storms would be certain death. semi rough seas again certain death.
the Vasa's weaknesses were and not limited to, a shallow keel, enormous weight, lower gun ports too near the waterline. these all played into her sinking. She only could be sailed on calm seas. so it would be a challenge to get her from point A to point B..
