Hey all !

I just wanna findsome tips on POTC when I found this site.... And its awesome !
I love POTC since 3 years and play hard on it, but at least Its a bit boring after a long long long time. And know I've just discover the build mod, thats cool !!! I can continue playing my favorite game !

Thx for that wonderfull "expansion".

PS: I dont know how to mod, I dont know how to do that. But if you need a french translator, I'm still here !

I've played this game since 2003 with only small interruptions!
There is no Community like this on all the net!

dunno if we need one. was the game already translated in french? if it hasn't, then you're free to try of course! oh, i'm a music modder by the way.
 
Yeah I have the french one, with french text & french sound (lol voice are funny with the old british accent)

If you need one, I can do that, but mod team have to tell me how to do that.

Actually there is a team that is translating Build 13 into French! If you want to join, you really are most welcome ! We already translated over 100 dialog texts on 300, and most of the interfaces.
We are currently lacking of active members, so your arrival is just fantastic... I'll send you a PM shortly!

Welcome to our community. I'm glad you enjoy our modding work so far and I hope you'll keep enjoying all all upcoming modding work as well. a simple virtual sailor already told you of their work on the French translation of Build 13, so if you want to, join them. Eventually they should get a French translation done which can be incorporated into a Build 13 Update for all to use.
 
I've got the PM, I check it at the moment.
Jusdt question I take the build13 and I have 2 questions :

first : about langage : I can select French in my option pannel but only some sentence are available I presume its because my old game wasin french so its use the same files.

second : about build mod 13 : I installed it but when I launch a new game, I choice pirate flag, and at each minute an horde of french soldier appear and rush on me like 20 or 30 guys ! Wheni'm on the training ship, when I'm on a tavern, everytime !

wow, structure file are a bit "complex" but I will do that. I cant give you a date, I will translate as quick as I can with my studie. I read some french sentence on the translation file that are not... hum dont know the word in english not in the "vocabulary" of the game or sometimes more pirate's accent can be give on the sentence... role playing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I will also correct the fault on it.
So I check thoses files and ask if I have any question, where should I post ? at least how can I send my update files ?
 
About the Spanish soldiers attacking: Sounds to me like somehow the Rapid Raid mod is triggered all the time. It should only be triggered if you press Numpad 9 on purpose. Try restting your controls to default in the "Options" menu and see if that solves it.

About the French language: No translated files are in Build 13, so switching to French will not work properly. Recommendation: Don't switch until you added the French language files. You can just copy the English files to the French folders, then translate the files one by one. That way the game will run properly and get translated bit by bit.

I'm translating the dialog files into german, but do not change the Folder name.
So it's Programs/Dialog/English. It works! I've done 25 Dialogs so far and "only"
have about 340 to go. As soon as I finish a file it goes into the game and no
Problem. So the Innkeeper on Redmond "talks" german already. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

We can communicate via PMs, it's certainly the best solution. But if you prefer, I can give you my e-mail address in another PM. I think the FTP servor of PiratesAhoy is down, so that would be a temporary solution.

Normaly, if you installed correctly the files I sent you, you should have most of the menus in French - at least the main menu. And you shouldn't have any french texts left from your old game either. But it's true that in game you met very few common people that are talking in French - althought one of our member have decided that he will now translate those in priority...

Don't forget to mention at the begining of each file you translate 'translated by Pure'. On the files already translated, you can correct some errors without having to mention it, but if you think one word is not appropriated or as you perfectly said ... not in the 'vocabulary' of the game, then you must discuss with me first, before changing anything... All people in this game are not pirates! <img src="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> You can have some distinguished merchants, or governors...
I remember having found a french translation of Seadogs once... First people I met in the street : "Hé mec, ça ne serait pas toi qui..." 'mec'! Please! Was this word used in the early XVII?... Come on!
But I agree that some dialogs could be more pirate-sounding.

That would be awesome! I haven't had much exposure to french since I've been in oakville, and playing a game in French would just be awesome!

to Heretik : personaly I would really enjoy to have the game in Spanish or Portuguese... Just imagine! You could turn the game in Spanish before entering a spanish town, for exemple... But I fear this is just an hopeless dream. We might succed in releasing a french translation, and maybe a german translation would follow, but for the moment it doesn't seem like any Iberic wants to start such a big work...

WOW! THat would be soo cool - I would litterally buy as many dictionaries as it requires to go from port to port and have them actually speak the language that they would. IT would make the game soooo much more real. And then maybe they'd have a really limited bit of english so that you'd have a limited understanding of their language or something once they realize that you don't speak their language. or maybe you could hire a officer that speaks both languages!!!! Sorry - I'm getting carried away - but it sure would be amazing.

Nope! As you would still change the language in the main menu, so if you don't want to you don't do it!
 
well, whe're not actually going to do it anyway, are we? although it might be fun, i wouldn't use it anyway. i'm not stopping you.
