Solved Personal/Ship Ability Point Gain

What governs personal ability point gain or ship ability point gain for that matter.

I know Personal skills are related, but I don't know the direct relationship. If you click on the personal abilities tab and click your rank, it shows the amount of skill ups you need to rank up, but nothing shows when you get a new ability point which is more important.

I was reading a thread of a guy who wanted to get the extra endurance/health perk at rank 4, but when I tried to just skill up medium weapons, and pistols I kept ranking up, and not getting personal ability points. It took me to rank 9 to get the 4 Ability Points necessary to get both perks.

I recommend you read through Jonesie's posts and tutorials. He explains this in some pretty good detail. MK

I did a profile search and viewed all threads and all content created by Jonesie85 and couldn't locate any tutorials/threads discussing this. I don't suppose you have a link to the thread?

There are various other threads from a general forums search, that don't provide a real answer, instead lots of general ambiguous info.

I know Jonesie was looking into this because he was interested in it. I was sure he posted his test results. Maybe they were in private PMs. I just never really cared about this aspect of the game that much. I know which perks I like to get to succeed for my game-play style.

So I found the answer in another thread...

You need (40-talent) skill advance points to gain 1 perk. If you left your talent at min (3) you need 37 points; there are 20 perconal skills so the max skill advancement points you need is 20x37=740. The max points are 7x100=700 and you have some starting points so the max points actually are about 660. Which means 33 available skill points per perk... which means 7 is the min talent you must have if you want to take all personal perks (it is impossible to get all the ships perks because they are much more).

As for the editing there was explained how to do this - look in the topic about cheats I guess.
