Question Regarding Weapons Locker

Darkphoenix

Landlubber
I was wondering, what items can you leave in a weapons locker that will be used?

Obviously weapons....guns, and blades......but do medical supplies get used? Bandages? Caut. Kits? Potions?

Do the special weapons, Borgiablade, Grenades?? (seems a bit risky...but...heheh)

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Darkphoenix,

Weapons are drawn from the locker in order of quality unitll the crew is armed. I believe the grenades come after the pistols, and the borgiabalde is never used because the lowest level balde drawn is the cutlass.

Medical supplies aren't used, but I think armor is used. Not sure about the special weapons: Put a grenade in there and you'll find out soon enough. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Heh, yeah...I bet I would....massive damage to both sides possibly...or just mine...might as well just roll the dice.....anyways...thanks....my best bet is just divying up the medical supplies to the officers then considering that they actually use them......

Armor is used by boarding crew. If they get killed, you don't get it back tho. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

they WILL use special weapons, as long as you enable the use of them in the buildsettings. (or internalsettings, i don't know) one tip though: collect lot's and LOT'S of poisoned throwing knives. as your officers have to return every weapon after the battle, they will still be in your wweapons locker after your boarders have used and even thrown them.

We used to get it back. What happened to it?

i've seen for quite some time now that you don't get your officers items when they get killed, nor do you get any items from the enemise that your officers kill. same goes for your baording crew.

Playing 13 with update - I get my "deceased" crews stuff back (including armor) plus all the stuff off dead bodies on the various decks using the "T" key.
I notice that you can pick up a lot of cash this way.

i'd rather have them not die at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> which they don't. i fact, i think firing cannons at them wouldn't even work.

I seem to have noticed that when a crewmember kills an enemy, he loots the enemy's items and these items end up the weapon's locker. Try playing the game without putting anything in the weapon's locker, then open your weapon's locker after a while and see what's in there. By default the crewmembers should only use Average Cutlasses. So there should only be Cutlasses in the locker. But you'll find all sorts of stuff there after several boardings. I suppose this was looted by the crewmembers.

This does not apply to officers: Apparently enemies killed by officers aren't looted at all.

The idea with armor is that when a crewmember is killed while he had armor, the armor can't have been very good, so it isn't returned to the weapon's locker. However, armor from crewmembers who AREN'T killed should still be returned.

And here I thought that the stats and value of armor was set in the initItems.c file, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Either that, or I've just read the poorest excuse for a bug, along with "it's not a bug, it's a feature".

Does this feature have a toggle?

What does initItems.c have to do with it? I am not aware of a toggle, but it must be possible somehow to change it. Though I don't really know how. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

What does initItems.c have to do with it? <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

To excuse the loss of armor from crew, you said<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->The idea with armor is that when a crew member is killed while he had armor, the armor can't have been very good, <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So you're saying that how good or valuable or expensive armor is, is set by whether or not a crew member survives an overwhelming attack.
I'm saying it is set in initItems.c and player should not loose the items carried by fallen crew.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I am not aware of a toggle, but it must be possible somehow to change it. Who changed this and when was it changed?

I think the idea was that when a crewmember carrying armor was killed, the armor must have failed him, causing him to die. I think it was like that since IncredibleHat did some changes there, but I'm not sure if it was intentional. It could be that he simply couldn't figure out how to return armor back into the weapon's locker and he thought it wouldn't be worth the time to figure out how to do it.

Then do fallen crew produce a corpse player can loot?

That would fix the problem as I see it.

At the moment: No they don't. Autoloot is enabled during boardings because the boarding spaces already are pretty small and fighting becomes pretty much impossible in a normal way if obstructing corpses are generated.

Maximus has made a new corpsemode that would solve just about all issues. In the new corpsemode, corpses don't obstruct walking, but can still be manually looted. This way we can re-enable manual looting on boardings, which would again solve this issue. This new corpsemode does not replace any of the current settings, so everybody who doesn't like it can always set the settings back.

I now have the code files for the new corpsemode, I tested it and can confirm it works just fine! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

pieter, would it also be possible to have the corpses block walking, like the old setting, but still have the dying animation?
