Squire of the Sea

His previous history in my RPGMaker notes is that he admired her from afar after seeing her in action on Tristan Island. TLDR, he admires her because she represents a life from beyond the island he lived on with the rest of the future members of the Lotus Crew.
 
Simon was simple. :D No, not like that - the model was simple to make because the game's "BlazeNB" almost is Simon, needing only the jacket, trousers and hair to be recoloured. It probably took less than 15 minutes.

Lizzie wasn't so easy. There's no way to get the hat shown in your drawings, so I had to settle for changing the bonnet to pink. Apart from that, I tried to make the model as accurate as possible. The sleeves on "towngirl3" are extensions of the dress while Lizzie's sleeves are the same pink as the undershirt; and the skirt has a pair of pink loops which make it look like a two-layer skirt. Both of those I copied from a different model, but then the snag is that different models use different layouts of texture file and use the parts in different ways. For example, the skirt on "towngirl3" starts on the left seam, wraps round the front and back, and ends up on the other side of the left seam. A lot of fiddling around was needed to get both sides of the seam to line up properly. I also added a completely new face to make Lizzie more distinct from "towngirl3" which also needed a lot of work to make it fit. I've done this sort of thing before, it always takes some time, but it's worth it in the end - especially for a key character.

There are a couple of lines for Purpure's arrest scene in your latest picture. Have you any more, including Purpure's "roundabout answers"?

Is the impostor supposed to be Sonia? If so, I'll need to change my impostor model - I gave her blue eyes to make her a bit more different from dark-eyed real Purpure.

As for Purpure's roundabout answers, they were all remarks about Lucinda because Purpure went and twisted the conversation around when Gillian asked if she had siblings or relatives that might have gone to the Coconut Farm. This annoyed Gillian so much that she had to rethink what she asked, and decided to ask about doppelgangers instead.

"My mother? She had me when she was a really old woman."

"She had faded blonde hair and green eyes."

"She never had a lover or husband. She just had kids like so."

"She used to babysit kids, including me."

"I don't have any siblings on this island. I had a younger stepsister back in England, her name's Cendree."

Who is Gillian? I thought it was Lucretia Bowyer who was asking Purpure about the Coconut Farm incident.
 
Gillian is Lucretia's superior in the Navy, though Gillian doesn't have such a big bone to pick with Purpure like Lucretia does. They both want to figure out the Coconut Farm arson case.

Hmm... I was planning to make a model for Lucretia anyway, and after that, it's just a matter of changing the face. And the weapons, but they're equipment, not part of the character model.

Someone once complained that Commander Hornblower only has an epaulette on one shoulder, so I looked up British naval rank insignia of the time and found that a Commander did indeed only have one epaulette. A full captain had two. So when I made a model for Captain Hornblower, he got epaulettes on both shoulders.

Presumably the Speedy navy isn't quite the same because one of the officers has gold braid on the hat, which I'm guessing is what they use for rank and the one with the special hat is Gillian. And that sword looks very much like the English Officer sabre in the game!

The Speedies exist in a setting where the biggest conceit is that women are potentially physically equal to men and the New World was colonised by the Tang Empire instead of the European powers. There's a lot more supernatural/kungfu tropes in my setting compared to the usual naval adventure story.

Yes, the one with the fanciest hat and red hair with green eyes is Gillian. Her surname really is Speedy, so I've gone ahead with making all kinds of puns about speedy actions. I used to think that Captain Tristram Speedy's name was a joke the textbook authors slipped in when I was a schoolgirl.
 
Then you're going to love the ship I'm going to use for Lucretia and Gillian:

This ship is included in the game and shows up as "Speedy class brig". It has a couple fewer guns than Lotus but they're 6lb to Lotus' 4lb, and it has a larger crew, so Purpure won't want to fight it, and that's why she'll go quietly during the arrest scene. (But it's possible the player will acquire something bigger before the arrest scene, so the code will check for that. If the "Speedy class brig" isn't tough enough, Lucretia and Gillian will get the big scary steam frigate instead.)

I'd written some dialog for Lucretia for the arrest, intending to replace it if you had something better. If Gillian is the one who interrogates Purpure then Lucretia can keep what I wrote, and Gillian can interrogate Purpure in the prison before Simon frees her.

Does Lucretia call Purpure by first name, or formally as "Miss Longstride" the way Gillian does? And what does Purpure call Lucretia?

Here's what I have for Lucretia - any comments or suggestions?
Lucretia: "Well, well. If it isn't Purpure. I always knew you were a bad one. And now you've burned down a plantation.",
Purpure: "What? I haven't burned anything, Lucretia!"
Lucretia: "Don't try to deny it, Purpure! You were seen. Several witnesses described you perfectly. You're under arrest. Follow me quietly, unless you want to talk to 'Missy' here!"
Purpure: "I could probably take that gun and beat you over the head with it. But your ship is bigger than mine and I don't want to have to fight your crew too."

If the player has already turned pirate, the dialog goes:
Lucretia: "Well, well. If it isn't Purpure. I always knew you were a bad one. And now you're a pirate."
Purpure: "So what are you going to do about it, Lucretia?"
Lucretia then goes straight to "You're under arrest..." without mentioning the plantation. Gillian will ask about the coconut farm during the interrogation anyway.

First names can easily be replaced if Purpure and Lucretia use formal names, and Purpure's name is really "Insert Name Here" because the player can change the character's name. So the dialog code will fill in whatever name the player is using.
 
Lucretia calls Purpure wrongly as Longshanks because she can't be bothered to remember her surname. Purpure calls Lucretia Miss Bowyer after having heard of her. She'd like to privately call her Fatso at some point after feeling annoyed by the Speedies being busybodies.

So the islanders generally have insulting nicknames for the main Speedy officers:
Gillian - Nosey Parker, Busybody Reddy, Old Prig
Lucretia - Fatso, Turkey Legs

I like the dialogue for the arrest you've got.
 
Currently I'm still working on Lucretia's texture file - copying parts of a standard British naval uniform texture onto the file for "50_Becka" isn't easy! But it's going to be worth the effort because once it's done, Gillian Speedy's file will just need a different face, and some of the decorations which I removed for Lucretia's low rank uniform to be put back.

Ah yes, Gillian Speedy. Remember how I said that, if Purpure has a bigger ship than the Myrinna then Gillian will get a big steam frigate instead? In addition, when Gillian's character model is added to the game, she'll automatically become available as a FreePlay character as well, though not with the same sort of story-like code as Purpure. (So is Lucretia). The game has a mechanism for FreePlay naval officers. You're more restricted than a privateer because you're under full naval discipline. A privateer can capture an enemy ship and then keep it, which is how privateers get better ships. Naval officers can't do that - you've been assigned your ship and you will command it, that's an order! But each time you are promoted, you get a new ship. The "Speedy" class brig is one of the ships which a rank 3, Lieutenant, can receive, so it's easy to arrange for Gillian Speedy to get it. At most other ranks, she'll get whatever any other officer gets. But rank 6, Post Captain, gets a big frigate - if you are familiar with "Hornblower" then you may know the Lydia or Indefatigable. Post Captain Gillian Speedy will get the steam frigate.

All of which leads to the question - would you like to suggest a name for the frigate?
 
Hippolyta might be a fitting name as the Speedies' ships are named after Greek Amazons, keeping with the theme of the New Weibermacht*. Antiope or Melanipe should work too.

*My name for the recent genre of historical waifu, which can be genderbent historical characters, or new stories about women in action in alternate semi-historical versions of Earth. It's mostly seen on Twitter.
 
Unless you prefer one of the others, "Hippolyta" was the first name you gave so I'll go with that. And if FreePlay Gillian is assigned a really big ship at rank 9 (Vice Admiral) then perhaps it can be "Otrera", who according to Wikipedia was the founder and first queen of the Amazons and mother of Hippolyta. (At rank 10 the player doesn't get an even bigger ship, but instead gets a free additional ship and a captain for it. What the player gets at rank 9 is one of the biggest ship types in the game.)

Coincidentally, Otrera is the name of Gillian's flagship in my notes.

Other Amazonian ship names used by the Speedies.
Myrinna: Scouting ship frequently used by Lucretia.
Asteria: Scouting ship used by Erica. (Erica Renshaw is the dark-haired blue-eyed commander gesturing in Gillian's direction in the artwork with the three of them facing something offscreen.)
Mytilene: Supply ship.
Cyme: Transport/supply ship.
 
It's no coincidence - your ship name and mine are based on the same reason, which is that Otrera was the founder of the Amazons and therefore the logical name for the senior officer's biggest ship.

More of a coincidence is the name of Erica's ship. "Asteria" is very similar to "Astrea", though they're different characters in Greek mythology. While writing the code to assign Gillian's steam frigate, I called it "Astrea" as a place-holder before you suggested "Hippolyta".

Mytilene and Cyme will work nicely for the smaller ships which Gillian will receive at ranks 1 and 2, before getting Myrinna at rank 3. And at rank 7, Commodore, she's getting the Myrinna again, but not personally. Commodore is the first flag rank, meaning she's officially allowed to command a fleet, so Lucretia will join her and command the Myrinna.

I'm not entirely happy with the epaulettes but they're the best I can do. The model stretches and deforms the shoulder text. Even the two lengthwise straight lines needed some fiddling - when I drew two lines, they ended up as zigzags, so I had to draw counter-zigzags which would deform to reasonably straight lines.

That's not a ship's mast sticking up behind Lucretia's head. To test the new model, I needed to start a new game. Another project involving a crypt full of evil undead monks also needed a new game. So I used the same game for both. If you can find it, and if you can survive the monks, there's a fancy rifle in that crypt. So, since I can't give Lucretia a Gatling or even a Nock gun, she went and got the rifle instead.
 
Long guns such as rifles and muskets stay vertical when not being actively fired. Depending on your viewing angle to the character, you may indeed see more such "masts", especially on guards in towns, and on Sharpe's riflemen who show up in the game's version of the "Hornblower" story. That's not the real problem, though. The original game did not have long firearms so it only knows how to fire pistols. So Lucretia, and anyone else for that matter, is going to look very odd firing a rifle or musket. One option for a special gun for her is a Collier revolver, which was a flintlock revolver in use during the 19th century. It already exists in the game, though it's not easy to get one - there's normally only one in existence and you have to fight a specific tough guy to get it.

Meanwhile, this was too good a line to not use:

When a musket is just equipped and not fired it is carried vertical on your back - sticking up if you want.
When fired it is fired like a pistol. If it's very odd I don't know but that's what the game have of animations. I just added the switch
to the vertical back mode. Which in my meaning is a little better than also carrying them at the hip like a pistol.

She'll start at the lowest rank in the navy, partly to get a joke on the name but mainly to use a couple of the other ship names. So Gillian starts off with a tiny little merchant ship Mytilene, then after her first promotion she gets a larger merchant ship, Cyme. At rank Lieutenant she gets the "Speedy" class brig Myrinna, which she keeps at Senior Lieutenant. That means she's short-changed compared to a generic officer who'll get a small frigate, but she's not the only one - several other naval officers based on characters from stories or real history either get smaller ships or no ship at all after some promotions, and they miss out on bigger ships than the small frigate. But Gillian does get a medium-size frigate at Commander, then the big steam frigate Hippolyta at Post Captain. When Gillian is promoted to Commodore, Lucretia joins her, having taken over the Myrinna. Then at Rear Admiral the frigate is replaced by 3rd rate ship of the line Bellona, which was the name of a real ship, it's the standard ship for a Rear Admiral in the game, and it just happens to fit in with the theme of mythical women as Bellona was a Roman goddess of war. At Vice Admiral, Gillian gets the 1st rate ship of the line Otrere and at full Admiral she's joined by another first rate, Queen Charlotte - another standard promotion reward.

As for Erica Renshaw, she can either command the Queen Charlotte or she can be an officer assigned directly to Gillian. As well as a new ship, naval officers are assigned extra officers of varying types, one of which could be Erica. That would put her into Gillian's game a lot sooner than waiting for her final promotion.
