The scenario: I chase Raymondo westward along the northern coast of Terra Firma (South America, for those not in posession of the historical references), taking a Spanish treasure fleet of three galleons and a Spanish millitary payroll sloop along the way. I engage Raymondo's ship North-Northeast of Nobre de Dios. I have the weather gage, and place two well-aimed broadsides into him from my large frigate, Adventure Prize. Raymondo, unable to bear up under withering fire, strikes his colours. As my vessel bears down from windward on his to board, he fires a raking salvo of round shot at my ship. My immediate response is to spill wind, turn abeam to the bastard, and fire broadside after broadside of grape into him until his ship lies dismasted, her decks running red. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

I know that this was a tactic employed during the Age of Fighting Sail, but I'd never encountered it in this game, nor thought the game sophisticated enough to attempt such a ploy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />
