A few Bugs with Beta Patch 6

Well, this thread took off! :drunk

I like the Caravel. Compared to the other merchant ships in it's class it is quite fast and maneuverable. And having all of those quick firing cannons does wonders for your gunnery skills. They also make quick work of sails. A thousand rounds of shot often isn't enough. But they do have a short range. The Carrack is like that also, but with 6 pounders. and it is much less maneuverable.

One ship surrenders and the whole convoy does too? Don't attack the flagship! Take the others first. That is an old bug that nobody mentions anymore.

Bugged escort missions: I no longer do them, so from memory the are Alice Town, Antigua, Havana, and this is funny, at Port Au Prince I found the merchant in the Fort! :))

This isn't really a bug, but in the installation instructions is it very clearly stated that one needs to go into "engine.ini" and set your screen resolution there, and exactly how? That might be one source of newbies getting CTD's.

There's nothing mentioned about engine.ini and resolutions in the installation instructions at all. :wacko:
 
i never noticed there was such a thing as a flagship, but i suppose it's the biggest of the lot. problem was that they were both exactly the same model.
 
Pieter: A poster over at MODB found it out by himself. I wonder how many ctds it has caused?

Morgan Terror: The first ship is the flagship.
 
I ran some tests and there is a bug with the flag changing. If you come near an island, go to sailing mode, change the flag then "fast sail" to a port than everything is fine.
But, if you change the flag, go to world sailing then go to the island, you get either an CTD or a freeze when you can't move, talk or interact.

About the Caravel, Bartolomeu I think you should think about upgrading the cargo hold(2000, for a caravel, very small) and the ship hitpoints(I think about 1300) because an average caravel has about 2000.
I do see your point about realism. How about, you upgrade the ship's stats to more than your average caravel, but increase the number of crewmembers for a big and costly salary. I think that would balance it. :sail

Escort missions, havn't noticed any buggs, though there is one thing. It's not a bad thing, it's actually earned me a few millions. The "bugg" here is on sailing mode, you can exchange with the ship like you do with your own ships. You can swap ship's and earn some money and you can take the merchants goods. That led me to a very lot of money from smugglers(and that's how I found the smugglers bugg). I don't think it would be realistic to do that with a mercharnt ship. Maybe we could change that so either you can't do it at all, or it decreases your reputation, or maybe no one will won't to be escorted by you again.
 
'first ship' means very little when they're all sailing in different directions, though i know what you're talking about. at least i can avoid it some of the time then.
 
What? The first part? I have never had a problem with swapping flags no matter which way I continue afterwards. It's the forgetting to swap flags and getting sunk by the fort that I have a problem with.


I rarely escort ships and it never occurred to me to swap ships. Don't you think the other Captain might object?
 
That is the point! The captain does not object! I take his ship and good and earn 500K from smugglers every time.

I have another problem: I get stuck, not being able to move, somtimes I load older saves and it works but its very frequent and I can't play anymore!! :modding ]
I try to moor, go to shore/port, board, and can't do anything! I can't talk, no one can talk to me and can only use sidestep!!

Help please guys!! Should I apply log records?
 
Is that getting stuck, unable to do anything thing when you finish an escort quest in certain towns? :modding

Being able to swap ships with the escorts is known, but we still need to fix it.
I think it's possible to put an end to it, because I think you can't swap with certain quest escort ships.
But we haven't yet looked into the difference between those two.
 
It gets stuck preety randomly but I played patch 6 for a long time, nothing happed, and as far as I am aware, and see no other thing, the stucks started after I had to change to Spanish flag and go to San Juan.
After that, preety random, but very frequent.
Any ideas?
 
I don't see where changing flags should have anything to do with it. :wacko:
 
I confirm that the escort mission to antigua/St. John is buggy. Whenever I spawn at the port, the other captain spawns at the same spot where the shipyard's guard stands, and he (the captain) doesn't move.

possible solution: make him come to me :urgh

makeshift solution: don't take escort jobs to Saint John, or if you did already, sink that bastard before going to Antigua.
 
Other bugged escort missions are: Alice Town, Eleuthera; Havana; Port Au Prince except that I found the merchant there in the fort.
 
Didnt expect my post to take off like this! But seems like good fixes have been made from it so all is good!

Another one to add to the list though :( The horrible Boarding bug is back for me.


Every ship I board after loading my last save after I finish the first deck I see the sea Icon but I cant go any further! Iv tried Spacebar and F3 and they dont do anything. This happens for boarding and surrenders.


P.S Since this bug appered for me on surrenders the ships captain has attacked me everytime iv tried. Dont know if that has something to do with it?

The boarding problem is an old one but I think there should be a fix somewhere. I'll check mate!
About the captain fighting you, it's normal. It might mean that your is much bigger than the captains but he still has alot of hitpoints and crew.
