A ship skin idea

It supports targa files, so yes you can use it I first used adobe photoshop 6.0, but now I use CS 2, thank you Pieter <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Ok i should have the equipment to do some ..skinning.

But im still not familiar with texturing and do i have to put every color dot by MYSELF? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
I wanna use a easier way ..how to make a already made ship texture color tones to green color tones?

you could also take grass textures and sandtextures, paste them over the skin, and them tone down the opacity.

Where are they located? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

Ok im going crazy here ..i did find the grass texture but the only way to attach it to a ship skin as a texture is to make that grass texture into .pat file format (so i can choose it from pattern menu) ..but i dont know how. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

EDIT: Nevermind ..i got it now ..now i just have to play with colors. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

YES!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Done! ..i did it, i made SLIB's pirate corvette CURSED! and i also made Bmunk model's texture a bit ..seaweedy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

But if ye seadogs want to see what i did then i have to dissapoint you because i need a place to upload pictures first witch i dont have *and here it goes douh! douh! douh! douh! etc* <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I am forward to see it, you can take screens with the program fraps, or the Prt Scrn key. Then go to your texture program, click new, click paste, and here your screen is. Make a photobucket account, upload it there, and paste the IMG code under the uploaded picture in your post. Voila, you have a screen uploaded.

EDIT: Nevermind...

OK finally here are the pictures. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

well i did think about it to make masts cursed but i looked that theres only one mast texture witch i cannot change without making all ships with cursed masts and what are these yardarms?

Hexeditng? hmm.. what file i must hexedit for that ship so it can have its own mast texture?

look for the tutorial for skinning, it is made by Verruckt and I think it is pinned in the Alpha Brainstorming thread, there is everything you need to know about skinning.

the sea corpse looks pretty cool. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> maybe you could make a few more of those guys to use as davey's crew?

Ok ..i looked into it but i did not find anything about adding mast texture for certain ship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Eh more sea corpses! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> i will look into it when i have solved this mast problem.

I vote for more sea corpses! I need some of Davy Jones' crewmembers for the First Contact quest, so these would be most useful. The ship is cool as well! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

For HEX editing what you do is you make a copy of the default mast texture and rename it to a different name that does have the same number of characters in the filename. Then you get the HEX editor for the Modding Tools page on my site and you can use that to make the cursed ship's GM files use your different texture file.

OK ..my game seems to crash every time i try add my mast file in corvette4.gm ..question is where i should add it in that gm file as that MAST.tga is not there.

I think the masts use deck.tga by default. Open the GM file with the HEX editor and see where it says deck.tga. Overwrite it with mast.tga, then save the file. You can use the GM Viewer to check if everything went OK by opening the file with the GM Viewer.

BTW: If you use the "demo" version of Photoshop CS2, I have got a certain thing to be able to use it forever. PM me if you're interested. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Allright! i got masts cursed too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />
