Thank you for that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> , because if it wasn't this would probably never work! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> ...LOL!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

LOL! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Hm... couldn't you, like, overlay your cursed texture over original texture? It's rather weird to see uniform surface, without any sign of deck planks, etc.

Umm ..i did best i could and if you look closely there ARE signs of planks.
If you wanna see those planks more clearly then tell me some of you guys, how did paint Flying Dutchman <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> ..my basic idea WAS to make that dark green skin what current cursed Flying Dutchman has for that corvette. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The Will Turner version was made by some Russian modder who we don't personally know. The greener version was done by Razor. You can try to send him a PM.

To tell the truth, I can't see planks at all. But fear not, I can give you some pointers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Observe:

<img src="http://kazeite.republika.pl/tutorial/example.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I've made this by overlaying two copies of that grass texture and changing blending mode of each copy. <a href="http://www.arraich.com/ref/tool_blend_modes.htm" target="_blank">Blending modes</a> are your friend <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

(I don't know how to change blend modes in Photoshop (PhotoPaint is my weapon of choice), but that's what help and google are for <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )

Simply open deck.tga, copy grass over it, change blending mode to <i>Overlay</i>, copy another grass over it, change blending mode to <i>If darker</i>, and voila.

Now you can start experimenting with different blend modes and different textures to achieve cool results <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Teehee ..blend modes, gotta indeed try it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

EDIT: Ah good ..found the blending thing in Photoshop. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Okay i will soon release my cursed corvette but first i need to find a lighter skined corvette (non-black skinned)
for my cursed corvette to be greener, black just won't go any greener you know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I have kept experimenting a bit at those blending modes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />
To get a greener skin then the hue mode is also a interesting part. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Could you add a white rectangle over your corvette skin and make it semi-transparent, then add the greenishness on top of that?

<!--quoteo(post=217393:date=Oct 12 2007, 12:17 AM:name=Pieter Boelen)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Pieter Boelen @ Oct 12 2007, 12:17 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Could you add a white rectangle over your corvette skin and make it semi-transparent, then add the greenishness on top of that?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

What do you mean by that? what rectangle?

Basically I just mean a semi-transparent white foreground. This would make the entire ship texture ligther. Then you can add the greenishness again and hopefully get the colour you want.

The Flying Sea Corpse! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> ...lol <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

<img src="http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc220/Cylon13/cursedcorvette0.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc220/Cylon13/cursedcorvette1.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc220/Cylon13/cursedcorvette6.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc220/Cylon13/cursedcorvette4.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I took bortoutcorvfrig1.tga.tx and made it green and seaweedy because that bortoutcorvfrig1.tga.tx has lighter texture colors and then renamed it bortoutcorvette6.tga.tx.
I tryed Pieters suggestion too but it did not worked out that well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

*loud Davy Jones theme starts playing from captain's quarters* <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

Cool! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

would be fun if your crew would turn into skeletons at night like on the pearl. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

Yea i agree ..but as for this kind of curse we should see cursed seaweedy skeletons for all day and night. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

may be doable. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> i guess retexturing the skellies from the pearl's crew would work. of course, you'd still need them to appear as skeletons during the day as well.

Hmm ..for the pearl i think that appearing of skeletons at night was hard coded in somewhere ..but if you just change the sailor models on that ship somehow then it has nothing to do with that code. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

In PhotoShop, you can also do the same thing with LAYERS and opacity. Also, since the file format used for the textures is TGA, you can (and should, in some cases) use the ALPHA channel for some effects.

Yes. The "Channels" tab shows you the ALPHA channels (R/G/B/alpha) in a TGA file. I'm using Photoshop v7.0, and had to get an updated plugin/filter to properly read the alpha channels in TGA files. Adobe changed the way TGA alphas were read in v7 - the alpha channel was incorrectly read as a transparent image layer. I'm not sure if other versions might need this or not.

Google "TGA alpha channel" or something similar for more info. An alpha channel in a TGA file is basically used for transparency effects.

And FYI, the "box" you refer to can be moved - I have all mine on the right of the screen in PhotoShop.
