Another Engine Crash

Hello all,
Sorry for another Engine Crash thread, but I have been trying to fix this for days now to no avail. Been trying to relive my childhood and I am getting the infamous engine crash, on the vanilla build. I am on windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit, and I have attached a dxdiag read out.
Cheers

You have two problems.

1) You are trying to use the stock buggy game.

2) You are using Intel graphics, which is known to be incompatible with the Storm engine.

But! You came to the right place because we have the solution to your problem for the low low price of....nothing. :diomed

1) If in the future you would like to upgrade to one of the top 100 mods of 2013 please go here and read carefully.
Pirates of the Caribbean: New Horizons mod - Mod DB

2) There is also a standalone Intel fix and some other things in these threads.
http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/intel-graphics-fix.19297/
http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/heap-corruption-random-crashes.19362/

The fixes in those threads should work with the vanilla POTC.

And if you think the stock game is buggy, wait till you try Build 14. ;) For me the stock game was stable, so was Build 13, but it's Build 14 which crashes on a regular basis. The graphics card is an nVidia GT520. When the game starts to crash, it keeps crashing - on one occasion it got so bad it would load a saved game and crash at once. I used to uninstall and reinstall the game, put back the saved games and continue. Last time I did that, I then copied the entire game directory to a backup directory. Now when the game gets into that sort of mess, I copy the saved games somewhere else, wipe the entire directory, copy it back from the backup, put back the saved games, and continue. (I know what you're probably thinking, the saved games are corrupt. On some occasions I went back to a saved game which had previously successfully loaded but which wouldn't work when the game was in "crash" mode. On one occasion I thought the same, reinstalled, restarted from scratch, and in due time the game started crashing again.)

Yeah, its crazy that Build MOD 14 crashes more often than the stock game or more stable as you say it. :modding

Huh. For me the stock game was fine, build 13 was very buggy, and build 14 was even worse at first and has slowly over the years gotten better until now it is very stable. For some reason it still has that one obligatory crash per day, just for old times sake I guess. For a loong time it was crashing 10-18 times a day.

I find ERAS to be very buggy and GOF2 to be about the same as POTC build 14.
