Bartolomeu quest

Youpime

Landlubber
Hello ! I'm still trying to finish that quest, but i'm blocked again : when trying to arrest Nathaniel Hawk for the portuguese governor, it is needed to capture his caravel in Charlestown. But first, i must provoke him and fight him. An old woman in the church says that Hawk can be found in his house "near the seaside", but i never found the house... So, could someone tell me where it is ?

I can't say anything about that, since I never got very far with playing it. One recommendation I can make (if you didn't already do it) is to install Patch 2, which was released earlier today. It contains many fixes to the Bartolomeu quest.

Ok, so i installed the patch 2 and now the quest bugs even before going to Nevis. When landing at the cuban beach to steal cacao from the warehouses, the pirate captain who leads the player never appears. I tried it on a fresh installation, with patch 2 installed directly after the 8.5 update. Also, some standing animations are corrupted. The people who follows you are walking normally, but when the stop, they use the tavern table animation, so they "sit on nothing". I hope this will be of some use for anyone experiencing the same problems.

Hi Youpime,
The sitting problem is solved <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=12676&view=getnewpost" target="_blank">here</a> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Yep. In other words : in PROGRAM\Loc_ai\init\Lai_actor.c, remove the ';' on line 56.

In the patch 2, I chose another location for Nathaniel (because there was a bug) : now Nathaniel is in a house near the tavern.

It happens because the quest is broken. 12 times i've got this when I played my main quest. Maybe, this problem is solved in the Patch 2. I just played a bit with this version today. Anyway, when you note the quest is broken, load your last save and repeat the action. Normally, it solves the problem.

Thanks ! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

I just tried the Bartolomeu quest, but didn't manage to get the 35000 gold in ten days to buy the Fast Barque.
I'm going to try again later. One thing I wonder:
Could it be that Hook's "add one day at every hour at sea" might prove a bit troublesome with the quest timers?

Ten days doesn't give you enough time to do much sailing. You can't possibly make enough by buying and selling cargo in that time, even if you bypass directsail and use the worldmap. Doing a simple pirate quest will usually take 3 days and unless you've reverted to the original gold multiplier for defeating enemy ships, that's not very lucrative except for what you get from dead enemy boarders.

The way to make that much money in a short time is to go into the dungeon. You could probably do it in the jungles as well. Aren't you glad I raised the prices on the swords? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

You can make it very quickly by rummaging through the chests on your ship. But that's, y'know, cheating. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I am SO glad someone's done something to force the player to make money.

Hook

It indeed IS a pretty good idea. It does challenge you to make money and do so in a SHORT time.
Dungeons aren't an option though; there are no dungeons on Hispaniola.
Playing the quest without cheating or side-turns still leaves you with over 10000 gold to make in 10 days.
Without leaving the island, because time flies at sea.

STEAL SOME CHARACTERS IN THE MARIGOT FORT PIRATES !! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/guns.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2guns" border="0" alt="guns.gif" />

(just after meeting the store keeper)

Haha! Indeed; I just noticed that the forts are insanely profitable. Especially at the moment, when there's no soldiers present there at first! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
BTW: Why doesn't Roxanne Lalliere join us inside the warehouses during the night attack?

Edit: WHAHAHAHA! One of my soldiers accidentally hit a BuildingSet model and now my officers have a personal vendetta against the BALES! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

In the second warehouse, she is with you. And before being reloaded outside she talks to you ! That's weird ! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

Don't tell me the quest is broken again !!!

BTW : Load your last save and repeat the action Pieter. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Or... make extra profits with smuggling goods on the way and things like that...
example :
when you're asked to deliver the linen to Douwesen, sell it at Port au Prince, buy full cargo of cinnamon, sell it at Redmond, buy linen again, deliver it to Douwesen. At Douwesen, buy Coffee for Redmond, at Redmond buy linen for Hispaniola, etc... Your boss won't know about that...
Please note that my Bartolomeu had developped basic commerce and advanced commerce perk. Oh, and I don't pay my crew. I make them happy with double rum rations a day or two...

No, it worked just fine. I didn't get that I was supposed to go the second warehouse, but I gathered as much from the quest file.
Perhaps you could make this a bit clearer in the dialog ("Let's check both warehouses for soldier") or something like that?

So far, so good. I reached Port Royale and got the money. One suggestion: Maybe you should put Roxanne's suggestion in the questbook;
otherwise people might forget. Especially when they click through the dialog too quickly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
