War dog? Which ship is that? how do you get it?

War Dog is the Corvette you get from the CoAS quest.

I've heard from the russians that the War Dog is supposed to be the best overall ship in the game.

They recommend you create a save right before you get the ship as its stats are randomly generated at that time, and if you reload a few times, you can get an absolutely unbeatable ship across the board.

Hmmmm very interesting... I've heard that the french quest line awards you with the Soleil Roi, a great corvette, which are the ships you get from the other nations' quest lines?

Thanks for the reply by the way ^^.

yep war dog is tops spee,d handling, like 6000 hp, 420+ crew on my game. and i didnt save before i got it lol.

Best ship <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
I think it is BOUNTY. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

The Dog of War seems to be the best ship.
I have seen its stats in ShipsInit and it has 20 knots, good cannons for a corvette and enough crew.
The Manowar has more cannons and crews, but it is too slow for my taste.

Same goes for Cinco Liagas/Arabella that you get from the Peter Blood beginning. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> That one can have some pretty damn impressive stats for a frigate.

I have Dutchman ...Warship Class 1 , 60 cannons 32 culv, hull 9000 speed 18, man 64 hold 6000, crew 603 AND
I have also War Dog, corvette Clas 3, 40 cannons, hull 4500, speed 23,55, man 77 hold 4300, crew 420

I use Dutchman and 3 manowars that i keep in port control for GG misions and atacking colonies etc
And War Dog is great for exploration and treasure hunt, spy missions for GG, etc
Wages on Dutchman, around 80K and on War Dog 17K... So for everyday exploration War Dog cost much less

Indeed, Cinco Lllagos is another whose stats are generated when you get the ship. Again, the Russians recommend you make a save game right before you speak to Jeremy after the fight with the captain, when you talk to him there, that is when the ships stats are generated.

Yep, that's what I did. After half a day of savescumming I got one with 16.84 speed, 42.54 maneuvering, and 431 crew. Which is not the best in any of the attributes, but usually when I get it to excel in one attribute some other one goes down the drain, so this is the best overall constellation of stats I've had the patience to get on her. I'm assuming I can upgrade her even further. Can you mount 42 pounders on the Cinco Liagas?

I think you can as long as the allowed caliber is 32, so when you upgrade it in bermuda, you get the 42... haven't tested it yet, but i will very soon.

Yeah, mine is 32. I've been getting plenty of 24 and even 16. Oddly enough, they all come mounted with 32 pounders, even if the allowed maximum is less. A bug, I guess.

I'm thinking that is because the mounted cannons are included in the randomization. I'd say if we can find it, THAT should be removed from the randomization calculations.

Cap'n Drow

I'd say the unique ships should be removed from the randomization entirely and given fixed stats.

yea i got a few quest ships, that the max is 24 but has 32 guns on it when you get it, i never tried upgrading those. but if you had to replace cannons that get fried i wonder if it would cause problems.

It wouldn't, I tried mounting guns on and off the Cinco Lia... what'sisname... eh bother, Arabella, and it works fine. The max type just means you can't switch to anything above that, but if you already have a bigger gun type set you can mount them no problem.
Frankly I find this whole cannon mounting system goes just halfway. It's nice that we can decide on which side to mount guns and all, but since you can only mount one type anyway you're still going to just mount as many of the biggest guns as you can, so it's kinda moot. Much better if we could actually realistically put bigger guns on the lower decks and lighter ones on the upper decks, as was the practice in reality. Or maybe put big guns everywhere for that extra punch at the cost of ship stability...

Edit: On second thought, I'm not so certain you can mount the guns back once you remove them after all... Oh damn you leaky memory! Damn you to hell!

yea thats the way pirates of the burning seas was, upper decks had smaller guns, lower bigger the biggest guns were in the fore and aft. do miss my pirate frigate from that game took me about a month of hardcore farming to get the materials to build it. i was the first player on our server to have that ship and maybe the first on any server not sure.

That was if the ships could end upside down... and I've performed CRAZY turns during storms, putting the ship below an angle of 30º and I didn't end up swimming with the fishes...

Well yeah, ship physics in this game couldn't really handle that, so the next best thing would be a massive penalty to maneuverability, on the assumption that the ship could turn harder but won't because it'd run the risk of capsizing.
