Its just a matter of time, mates! Its looking like the plan is definitely to move Build over to CoAS, and there will be plenty of room for additional realism mods exactly as you are suggesting. **grins**

lol i remember trying the real sail mod with sea dogs 2, too bad your ai ship mates needed a total rewrite of its AI not to kill each other just leaving port against the wind.
 
have to say i cheated here Ive got a manofwar with 42pnd cannons ,i used a config by a guy called haxor over on gamecopyworld,com ,he has 2 configs the first is the best it has lots of money with a great ship the second though is just a step to far it gives you major stats as well ,i prefer the first as all you get is a ship and dosh
 
Play in Beta Test Mode and you can buy all the ships in ShipsInit. Now I could buy the lovely Dog of War with 20 knots or the Flying Dutchman, but I won't. It is just to understand the mechanics behind the game and to find 2 totems that weren't available in my previous game to complete the Tenochtitlan quest.

The Dog of War is really fantastic.
My stats: 3800 Hull, 20 knots, 3600 storage, 58 maneuverability and 320 men, 40 32lb cannons
This ship really kicks ass. Those English bastards that always attack me will now be really sorry.
