Bill and Ted's "Excellent" Adaptation

Hear, hear ! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Here's a related question: What's the easiest way to set up "key" items, like that will open a locked door? I'm picturing finding or buying keys to use at certain doors, or `one-time`-use skeleton keys for certain rooms... or lengths of rope to help you scale a cliff face (I've got a reload set up like that now on KR).

Whoah, Alan, scaling down a cliff? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> Don't forget the newest Old Spice `anti-smellyarmpit` thingy! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Keys would be good... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> Would make the game much more exciting. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I believe you should be able to set something like that up in `quests-reaction`.c where you have an "if/else" situation - if your character is at a certain position and in possession of the key, they can pass through to the next room, ELSE some kind of logentry or dialog can come up to say "Door locked, need a key".

Rope to scale a cliff, HEY <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> Sounds great! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Yeah, I'll keep poking around QR.c...

Here's another: I'd like to make a button function similiar to quaffing down potions with the C key, only it would equip another gun in your inventory after you've already fired one. But I can't find the command file for the potion or any of the others.

Damn straight it goes for you too Sir Chris! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Could this "Excellent" Adaptation be adapted so that it only triggers once and only when you have a high level in the nation's service and only if you have a high luck skill? After all, I can't believe the governor will lose his sword over and over again and neither can I believe he would trust just any 'ol man to go and get it back again. Would be great if that could be acchieved. But great job anyway. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Pieter,

It can be done! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Due to work committments of late, I haven't got as much time to play with the code, so I put this info up so if someone wanted to take it to the next step they could. My original motivation came to set this up was that I thought it a shame that the excellent swords had been put into the game, but there was no reliable way to gain them. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Nathan gave me some info that I posted above regarding setting up a scalar that would do what you're suggesting, but I have had any time to figure out how to apply what he gave me.

We'll get there... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
