Since some people complained that masts of my <i>Pearl</i> aren't tall enough, I ask ye: are the masts on this plan tall enough? Also, is the sail plan correct?

If yes, I shall use it as a general guideline <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />. YES! Looks perfect. That is my only wish for your Pearl - some big, tall mean masts! Can't wait to see the outcome.

yes, quite possible and common in fact. although i'm not entirely sure that it was done on ships of that era yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> they might be a bit too tall for that specific ship.

I don't care who is against movie Pearl's sails but Black Pearl IS whit big sails and i want it with big sails. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />
 
a schooner and that ship are a whole lot different, so that doesn't count. bigger ships can have bigger masts, but the schooner is fairly flat, so it can't use such masts.
 
Anyway.... if even mighty <b>Morgan Terror</b> himself approves his sail plan (although it does lack some of the ropes anyway <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />), then this sail plan I shall use! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hmmm. Didn't notice you changed that, Morgan. Of course, considering how many socks you lost to the magic Llama, I guess it was just a matter of time.

me being esquire in the future is in fact true. better still, my mothers side AND my fathers side have a coat of arms, which means i can make a new one made of those two combined together! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> i am in fact the only heir to the title. pretty neat, if you ask me. problem is, someone else has older rights to the family castle, darn it. well, it's probably in ruins anyway. i pretty darned hope so. if it isn't, i'm going to be REALLY mad. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

well, i think these masts are ok, although they may have to be a little shorter than that. they're just a little overdone at the moment, but it's pretty good as-is.
 
Ugh... Well guys, I won't be using this sail plan after all. Why? Well, look at this:

This is this sail plan, scaled to the DMC screenshot. As you can see, it appears to be wee too big <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I don't know whatever posessed this fella to enlarge his masts so much. Surely he's not compensating for anything, is he? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
 
Ah well ..at least you found the original thing to copy the sail plan. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

In any case: That picture should remove any doubts about the correct sail plan. Would be interesting to see a comparision between that film picture and an ingame screenshot of the Pearl.
 
i thought they where a bit too big. what's wierd is that the staysails are missing, and i can't see them furled anywhere. the rope is barely visible, but it IS there.
 
I believe that <a href="http://www.the-bahama-islands.com/tank100205b.jpg" target="_blank">this picture</a> shows where lower staysail goes when its furled <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
