Thanks for the idea about changing the crew models. I'd like if I didn't have to, though. Anyways, in Age of Pirates, enemies have small but visible health and fatigue bars above their heads. Your allies do not. So you know who is who that way.

It's still difficult boarding ships, though, at the point I'm in the game as I don't know how many of the enemy I'm going to face before hand. It would be nice if there was also some indicator as to crew status (with the spyglass, perhaps?) so that I could get some sense of the numbers I'll be encountering, as well.
 
well, you could guess how many foes you'll have to fight by looking at the amount of crew on board the enemy ship through your spyglass. of course, you'll have to have a superior or better spyglass equipped to be able to see the crew. remember though that the amount of crew displayed isn't the literal amount of foes you'll see during boarding, just a relative number.

maybe making an arrow above their heads would be possible, although i doubt it.
 
IMO i think that only PotC AWE WAS the stupidest one because of that Calypso (or Tia Dalma) part when she grows into giant by screaming and then goes into rock crab parts <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> ...this is just plain f***in' stupit because a god should know better than that (like setting a whole EITC armada burning to bits in just about 1 second).

And i also didn't like the part when Flying Dutchman goes green *BLINK* after sun has gone out of horizon ..i don't like it at all.
For me its enough for Flying Dutchman to be indestructible and having the ability of submarine but this blink thing is just STUPID! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Now, when its getting offtopic anyway, let me throw in my 2 cents as well.

In short, not unlike what most of you guys think:
I like new ideas, hence I liked the PotC:CotBP movie. But Hollywood was tossing around with a lot of money when their lack of new ideas made them come up with all that fantasy-bull**** in DMC and AWE. Their very existence are incarnated evidence on how money should always follow great ideas before already proven success....

Heck, there is so much content in the real world, so many real pirates that made real stuff. It´s said, that reality often exceeds imagination. Who don´t want a movie covering the life of big personalities like Rackham, Bonnet, Morgan etc.

Or what about all the fiction, thats already written? I am quite sure, the world will never see another historical naval movie that will be able to match Master & Commander´s coverage of personalities, storytelling and stylish grace throughout the books in one single movie.

More new ideas and exploitation of reality, less special effects and play-it-safe franchising on already exhausted successes thank you <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Funny thou, you have a whole explanatory chapter as "special features" on the extra disc of AWE where they tell the history of each one of the pirate lords, as you point on their items thrown as pieces of eight.

That stuff would have been enough for 4 pirates movies full length.

The info added as extra feature "saved" them however the effort of really making the film fantastic by producing a realistic mix of slide-in stories <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Yes first of all they need to make their Black Pearl as a TRUE sailing-worthy ship because the current real pictures of the Black Pearl i have seen are ..wierd ..i mean why the hell is real Black Pearl missing the upper part of masts and i am seeing no sails on her ...so WTF???? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> Is Black Pearl some kind of sitting-duck? So is it so f****** hard to make a new real sailing ship? i'v seen couple of movies where historic REAL sailing ships are LITERALLY in the movie without any bloody CGI. Even the BBC doc movie (if i'm correct) what was about Blackbeard had REAL sloop and a three masted 40 cannon ship (what was that ship there called EXACTLY?) in it and they looked REAL. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

There actually <i>is</i> a difference between your crew and the pirate crew in the Build 13 modpack. Also when you attack other nations' ships, the difference is very clear indeed. But I agree that with pirates, it's sometimes hard to distiguish between your crew and the enemies. So we'll be needing some better model assignment for boarding crews. And for many other instances as well. I first want to finish my ship assignments, but model assignments will also be done. I didn't mind that so much. This green flash exists in real life as well. I think it looks <i>really</i> quite different though.

Really, what is it about Atlantis and Jules Verne flying machines that makes you think it would work well in a pirate movie? Sure I can see it working in <i>a</i> movie, but not a pirate movie. Have you ever seen the Disney animation film <i>Atlantis: The Lost Empire</i>? I thought that was a really cool adventure animation film and it is incidentally also the film with "a character voiced by Michael J. Fox" that the rumour was referring to. That film had Atlantis and Jules Verne flying machines and it worked fine there. But <i>Atlantis: The Lost Empire</i> with Jack and Barbossa really does strike me as one of the worst ideas ever. Not to mention incredibly unoriginal, because just about the exact same thing has been done before in that <i>Atlantis</i> animation film. Of course there are also more than just a few similarities between <i>At World's End</i> and the <i>Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas</i> animation film. Why should inspiration for the PotC films come from almost random kiddie animation films??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I don't particularly mind the usage of CGI here though. You don't actually SEE it in the film. The scene where the Black Pearl was layed up on the shore of Pelegostos (the cannibal island) looked convincing enough and that was CGI as well. But, of course, a <i>real</i> proper ship is cooler. MUCH cooler. Much, MUCH cooler!

Maybe you already notice it, but there is a bad bug in Build14A8WIP that are not in Buil14A6.2:

When you swap from ship deck to sea twice (sea ->ship deck -> sea -> ship deck -> sea) the game CTD.
This occurs also after win a mutiny probably for the same problem.

I really hope someone can fix it before released it.

Uh? I already had that crash when only going from sea > ship deck > sea without having to do it twice. In any case Maximus fixed that probem in his latest files and it seems to work now. Only now I'm having some new problems:
- On all auto-reloads, you are reloaded straight back where you came from (pretty bad bug; you can't walk through the jungles anymore).
- Player being generated below the deck when walking around the ship.
- Missing crew on the ship deck on occasion.

I just download your latest files (PB Folders 6 Jan 2008) from FTP and copy them on top of my current debug installation: POTC+BUILD14A6.2+BUILD14A8WIP+FOR_PIETER AND_KK_26.11.2007+fix [02.12.2007].rar

In the tutorial cabin after Maclcom stop to talk I can't move anymore.

Maybe I missing some update.

I did try to start a new game lately and it does work. However, I do recall some problems with that in earlier Maximus game versions. Most notably on ships that do not use Cabin_Small. It's fixed properly in Maximus' latest fixes though. You should install:

I think that should work. Thought it might be better to first also install all other of Maximus' files in order of date. I try to add to my BUILD14A8WIP installation your last update (no these from your last replay in this thread but the 80MB one from the temporary (forum).
My problem are still here (freeze in tutorial cabin).
I try to start from Charleston and so works. Found some problems in the trade system (interface trade menu say that no city have a store).
Also try to take a escor mission and trader text are missed and in the quest book there is a voice "error" instead of escort quest text.

I try to start a new installation:
POTC + BUILD13FULL + Build14A8WIP1 + Build14A8WIP3

Results when I start a new game just see a black screen, maybe I missed some step in the installation.

Is it possible to explain witch build to install once after fresh game install. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Once we know that we should release small mods(updates). Every time we got a few bugs fix we should release updates for modelers so they can continue testing. No need to release and update at every bug fix, we are going to end up with dozens of updates. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ko" border="0" alt="ko.gif" />

Seems like something went wrong with your installation then, giuliootto. I now have two different Alpha 8 WIP game versions: Maximus' with my own changes added and Pirate_KK's. We need to merge them together, make them compatible and fix the worst bugs. I wonder when I should upload a new game version. Perhaps I'll just upload the huge full Alpha 8 WIP 4 (Maximus' and my files) and then upload Pirate_KK's code as an update tomorrow. Then everybody who wants to can have a look at it. I'll also try and merge Pirate_KK's files.
 
I reinstall the game and install build13'full' and than builb14Alp6 on top, but the game don't start. There's 3 bat files for build14Alp6. In witch order should I use the .bat files?

Pleas reinstall and check between each step if the game stil runs. There's installation instructions on my site as well.
The more you use your skills, the more % you get and once you got enough, your skill will increase. You can turn this off and go back to the original game's way of assigning the skill points yourself though. Set AUTO_SKILL_SYSTEM to 0 in BuildSettings.h.
 
Got no sound in sea battle anyone can help me for that?
