Calling a halt to the ModPack so we can update the Build

I suggest we call a halt to the inclusion of any NEW mods into the ModPack. We need to define a stopping point, or else this modpack may go on forever! This is not to say that we have to stop modding, just to stop adding to this particular version of the ModPack - so we can update the B12 upgrades!

Have these mods thus far included been sufficiently tested yet so we CAN add them to B12? Or do they need more testing?

Wait, can I sneak in another `half-dozen` character skins? I could try and post it in the next day or two. If not that's ok...

Re: blacksmiths. Since Pieter posted fresh script, and I think he got the new cannon model in, what exactly might I still need to do to it? All I can think of is making the "back" images coincide with the actual locations of the shops.
 
My modpack most certainly hasn't been tested thoroughly enough yet. I'm even quite certain that at least the disarming mod isn't at all working perfectly yet. With CCC's help in that thread, I'll try and do some improvement tomorrow to get it working good enough for implementing. Or it could always be toggled off by default.
 
Yeah, disarming and fistfighting are features too unique and `as-yet`-unseen that I think the next release can wait a bit for them to be perfected.

How long's it been since the last B12 update was released, though? Just a few months, or was that back in summer? Seriously, I've entered a bizarre land without time here...
 
It was quite a bit of time ago I think. I suppose the disarming/fistfighting should be able to be gotten working properly quite soon. After all: The majority of the coding is working properly. With a bit (or a lot) of help from CCC and some testers, all bugs should be ironed out soon. It won't be working as perfectly as it would like, but it'll have to do. Nothing ever is as good as I would like anyway, being a completely hopeless perfectionist. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
BTW: Check my modpack thread to see what still needs to be fixed before it can be submitted to a `Build-update`.

I agree.
I think the update could have gone with Stormy Start and Blacksmith after their bugs were worked out.

I went through the entire game (All quests) 2 + times.
I am not playtesting now.
Things just kept being added so a 13MB DL is now a 26MB one.

Do we really need to DL character gm's and skins that the community has not asked for or are not part of a Quest?
 
Whatever is stable and running well should be included. I don't want to shut the door on anyone - please don't feel like you're being left out because there can and WILL be more updates. I can't POSSIBLY get my Sneaky Trader in (it is still not finished because I keep taking time to test everything rather than work on it).

Good gosh woman, you're being way too kind and patient!

You've only been trying to get this build updated since mid December!
Am I right?
 
Haha... Well maybe. But I think we've got a lot of great stuff here, I've mainly been waiting for the bugtesting to be over for the SWAK and the Blacksmiths mods. I think we've reached that point.

BTW, personally I think extra character skins/models can be added at any time at all, since they don't need to be bugtested. It's the (presumed) absence of bugs in a quest or mod that's been the most important criteria all along for adding things to the CVS AND the Build.

So what are you going to do Catalina? Add the SWAK and blacksmith mod to the update and leave out the rest? Or are you just wanting to take the current version of my modpack to add to the update? If the first is the case: I reckon you should at least also include Alan's opium den and apothecary, as well as CCC's Captain's Challenge mods and all other stuff that DOES work properly; so you'll only end up leaving out the disarming/fistfighting mod. Or you could even add that one in, but turn it off by default. If you are wanting to take my current version, I do hope you'll give me a few more days to try and iron out some more bugs. With (a lot of) help from CCC, we should manage to get it to work within a limited time. I'll promise I'll keep myself from trying to mod anything new until the Build update is done in any case.
 
Cat, thanks for taking things in hand. I'm so preoccupied with making something new every day that I tend to forget the question of proper publishing.
I am comfortable with any stopping point.

"Can" is one issue, but "Must they be added" is another?

I'm not talking about being able to add things to the ftp.

It's about everything then having to be included into an ever increasingly massive download.
 
Making them selectable is a question for the installer, but since you raised the question about skins "not beining requested by the community" and/or "not part of a quest:

I hereby request all of alan smithhee's new skins, and if they can be bought at tailor shops that would sort of make them part of a quest, too.

I would ask, who is actually testing these now?

Do we really know that all those things work properly?
 
I believe that at least everything apart from the disarming/fistfighting mod is working quite properly. There might be some minor bugs left I suppose, but there always will be. I don't know who's testing them though; I hope someone is. It would be a shame to leave these great mods out if they're already working `near-properly`...
