Constantly crashing

What mods have you got installed at the moment? I know there was a bug where the game would crash every now and then when going to the worldmap in the Post Build 12 mods, but after several weeks of hard searching, we found it and fixed it.

Dude thx you,

Peiter this is exaclty the problem i've had.

Listen Ben, this is what I know, since I had this problem i did some research.

The main problem is redmond.
When your on near or close to redmond town, fort, port, or sea, DONT ACCESS THE MENU.

As for the stuff like after sea battles, mine was fixed when i fully updated the build 12 mod.

Good luck, hope it helps

ps: if anyone has a solution for this problem for the love of god POST!...................... plz.

I'm using build 12... I haven't bothered getting any of the newer ones yet.
I'm not sure whether on not I've crashed in places other than redmond... But I think you're right... I can't remember crashing after a battle since I got the mod. I've been nervous like after I've stolen a ship and really didn't feel like losing it... But then it didn't.
I'll have to try and pay attention to where I am when it crashes... It may explain why it's been so less frequent.
Thanks

I've done a year (approx) in investigating this and trust me it's redmond.

I think this bug has something to do with the English copy of the game, since both of our are buging in the same way and we have english copies.

Try to download my <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/modules.zip" target="_blank">MODULES folder</a> and extract it on top. If it does no good, it will do no harm. I think... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I've got the English copy & I DONT have this problem.

Well I hate to disapount you, but I crashed leaving Douwesen last night.
So I guess my game just likes to crash.
Pieter... What is this folder I am about to install?
Thanks for it anyways.

Well if it happens to some & not to others that are using the English copy then it must be some other factor that is causing the game to crash, so I'm not disappointed.

Thanks for the DLLs Pieter... The game seems to be working perfectly now... i guess the game was the root of the problem after all... So hopefully I won't be putting any more posts in about crashes
Thanks again

That folder contains a lot of required files for the game. However, it seems that on a lot of printed CDs, this folder has become corrupted. Result: The game keeps crashing. My folder works correctly, so if you have a corrupt folder, you don't have to return your game, but can use my folder instead. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Actually... Bad news again... After I played so long I was certain the crashes were behind me, it happened again... Is it at all possible it's something in engine.exe, or is that totally replaced when I downloaded build 12?
I'm beginning to think I may just have to live with the crashes... Especially since they're not so constant now... I just hope the windows Kernel doesn't end up corrupted.

I think I was off the coast of Concieco... Though I'm not quite certain... I do know for sure I was doing stuff around one of the foreign sounding islands... I just can't remember which. I was fighting a battle, then when I went to return to map, it crashed.

Engine.exe is replaced by the Build, so that's not the problem. What mod(s) are you using? Build 12? No additional Post Build 12 mods?

No I'm just using build 12... And the problem started before I added any mods, so it must be something that build 12 leaves alone... Or my computer just hates the game.
Don't feel too bad if you're out of ideas. It doesn't really make sense now that we've replaced the DLLs, and got rid of the program in the background.
Thanks again

If you installed my MODULES folder and installed Build 12, about all the files the program needs have been replaced. If the game still crashes every now and then, I don't know why it is. What GFX card do you have? Maybe your GFX card doesn't work together with the game properly? But that makes no sense either if the game DOES run most of the time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

I'm running a 128MB radeon 9700. The game doesn't exactly push its limits, so it should be fine for that... But in the FAQ post, this card was pointed out as a troublemaker for the game (it's the first post on the FAQ), but the link for a compatible driver doesn't work.
Thanks for your time.

Great mod build13! Greetings from Holland!
but needs improving,it crashes a lot,even after the update!
build 12.1 never crashed on my pc,has something to do with engine.exe
example:when in a battle after a while it crashes with the message error in engine.exe
why is that?

I think its a laptop thing

I have my home computer and it runs stock fine
yet my laptop crashes, guess where, when heading to the world map.
they must use a different driver or hardware setup or somthing (I dout stuffs getting corrupt on the install)

and for debugging in stock you need
<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->tracefilesoff = 0

[script]
debuginfo = 1
codefiles = 0
runtimelog = 0
tracefiles = 1<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
