Defining a Common Goal

not lots of quests at falaise the fleur? that's the place with the most of them. like these:

smuggler's quest (which doesn't have any quest book dialogue, by the way),
blacque family,
fred bob quest,
the girl who lost her faith,
patric and the idols,
sinking the pirate corvette,
the help the lady quest (triggered by the fred bob quest),
and of course the main quest.

but if there are quests in the making for the other islands, i don't mind.
 
i've played the Bartolomeu's quest and the Turkshelp quest in the Build 14 alpha and i've found it's missing a line in the Bartolomeu's quest. In the quests_reaction file in the case "discours" add this line :

LAi_SetActorType(pchar);

before this line :

LAi_ActorGoToLocator(PChar, "goto", "goto16", "beforevent", 21.0);

to obtain :

LAi_SetActorType(pchar);
LAi_ActorGoToLocator(PChar, "goto", "goto16", "beforevent", 21.0);
 
Can you please put that fix on the bug tracker? Or put it on the FTP? That way I'll find it when I'll be back home Saturday.

Hey morgan, the fixes I'm putting in shouldn't make you have to start again. (As far as I know!) Just unzip the files into our existing POTC game dir and keep playing!.

If you are having to start over, somethings odd!

i did find some new bugs, which i posted in the build 14 alpha topic.
 
One idea I have is an Officer Academy. Truly, how many captains would have gotten their officers from the local taverns. And with the rate at which my officers die during boarding and such, it would be nice to have a place to easily get replacement officers rather than entering/exiting the tavern 5 times to get one.

The idea is to add a building which will contain several officers each time you enter. What the building should be, I'm not sure. I doubt there were many, if any, actual officer academies in the Caribbean during the 17th century but I don't know what else to call it. Inside you could have several officers, possibly one for each profession if it is possible to do so.

Other things that could be done with it, possibly change how officers are generated and instead of them becoming better officers as your level grows, have it dependent on your current rank with the nation who owns the academy. So the higher your rank is with the English then you get better English officers from the academy.


One other idea I had was a way to limit officer deaths. If one of your officers dies boarding a ship, after you capture the ship (or not) it gives lets say a 65% chance that your officer was not killed but just injured and if you have a doctor on board your ship then he will be better in 7 days or some random amount of time, if no doctor is in your service then you need to go to a friendly port before he will begin to heal.

It is a nice idea. Also, it is annoying when you have to enter and exit the tavern 10 times to find an officer, something should be done with that too.

What are doctors for anyway??
 
Good question. At the moment: For nothing really. They have luck and defense skills.
