Dutchman and Amsterdam

More or less, yes. But steering wheels also work easier in real life, which I also consider to be "cool". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

apart from that, you can fling the thing around a lot, which is fun. problem is that the tendency to get launched is higher too.

I've made them as separate objects, which I think is the simplest, quickest and least size intense solution. You only need to add appriopate locator to each Fleut (at cordinates 0,0,0), change the name of the railing file if necessary and it should work. Hopefully <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks so much for working on this.

One problem. they need to be rotated a full 180 degrees. the fore railing as at the aft.
Another thing, I'm calling them Fleur1_mast9.gm and setting the ship's locator to mast9 geometry but getting:
BeginScene
The method call is invalid For example, a method's parameter may have an invalid value

OK, I'll flip them asap.

Two things, though: Is this how you called it? <i>Fleur1_mast9.gm</i>? It should be "fleut", not "fleur". I hope you made a typo in your post <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And second, it's not necessary to rename them as mastsX. Naming them fleut1_railing and setting "railing" locator will work just as well. Just see my <i>Pearl</i> for an example. All stuff on deck is a separate object named, appriopately enough, <i>"theBlackPearl_stuff_on_deck.gm"</i> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Another thing, since all masts are hardcoded to be destroyable, one lucky shot may blow all the railings off the fleut. Which, although no doubt amusing, may not be the effect we're looking for <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

hey, that could actually be a good idea! could be cool to see all kinds of bits of your ship flying around. realistic, at least. it shure would explain why i shot the flagpole of a ship once. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Kazeite
Yep it's Fleut, just a typo in my post.

I used the Tool to rotate the rails 180 around the Y and got this.
Aft is at bottom.
The height is right but the x-axis spacing is now wrong for the three rail sections.

BTW, this is as close to the ship as I could get in "Flying camera" mode before getting the CTD.
Going to the ship also produces the CTD.

That is why we have "palka" in "particles.ini"

Doh! I forgot about mirror bug! Meaning, x-spacing is correct, but only if fleut was a mirror image of itself. I forgot to mirror those railing before exporting them from TOOL.

And it looks like I need to replace collision data reference...

Oh well, back to the 3D Max.

AH! ..so THAT'S the nightmare CTD you once were talking about or is it just one of nightmare CTD types? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />
Btw good job finding out that Fleut (Fleur? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />) needs railings too, i hope to see fleut with rightly placed railings too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

And i have also noticed that you guys like to call Fleut a FLUTE!?! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> sometimes, i could swear that flute is a music instrument. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
So what HELL that ship type what was usually called "Fleut" will be called if one calls it's "Fleur", second calls it "Flute" and third calls it what i cannot even imagine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

More confusement: Fluyt is the real Dutch name, and some say Fluit, but that is the Flute in dutch. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I think the best would be simply to add the railings to the hull GM file just like the Black Pearl's stuff on deck. I'll do it myself for all the Fleuts in my game. After all the initial confusion and bugs have cleared up. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

It's not incorrect. By the way, that's how we call that ship in French (une Flûte).

That's the part when i say a word with Barbossa's voice: Agreeed! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

All right, railings for the fleut, take two. Available at the same location <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<!--quoteo(post=222440:date=Nov 20 2007, 11:45 AM:name=Kazeite)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Kazeite @ Nov 20 2007, 11:45 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->All right, railings for the fleut, take two. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Kazeite

I just put them in.
The orientation and spacing are flawless. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

One last problem though. The textures are inverted.

well, i was half right. are you sure those posts and the rail should only be a half box? it doesn't look very good, although i know the booms on ships use the same technique.

Flipped normals by the looks of it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
