Easter eggs

Eggs layed by rabbits? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The group of skeletons hanging from a beam in a rock arch just outside of Port Royal seem to be a shout out to the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I've also met Horatio Hornblower in a pub, oddly enough his reputation was "scoundrel" and he invited me to raid a shipment of slaves - not quite the virtuous officer from the books and movies.

These are some tricks or simply interesting non-standard moments in game. Usually developers of games and programs do this to maintain interest. Thus, in one of the first versions of IE after a series of manipulations could see a collective portrait of the developers. This isn't in the CoAS, but there are some Easter eggs.

This isn't an Easter egg in CoAS. This is Fred Bob joke.

yeah, I've seen this portret <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Invision Power Board 2.1.x versions had that too. It was a photo of the main developer - Matt Mecham <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /><img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />D But I'm no longer modding and exploring this type of forum systems and do not remember how to get it anymore <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Jacques Swallow is definetely an easter egg! Captain Jacques Swallow to be correct!
He is the former captain of the "Ebony Oyster" who was set out on a lonely island. He fled with turtles.
When you talk to him the first time in Blood's storyline, your response is: "You have threatened Miss...sorry, wrong trail!"

there was a movie I think Epic Movie.... and there was a pirate character named Jack Swallows <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> he was a copy of sparrow... check it out on youtube :p

Yes, hanging skeletons, this is an Easter egg, inspired by the famous film.
Horatio Hornblower and John Silver are pseudo-characters. There are quests with them, the taking of slaves, gold and silver.

Yes, of course. Captain Swallow is an Easter egg. There are rumors that if you help him escape from Barbados, later you can be found Swallow. This is only a rumor, not confirmed rumor.

Oooh, forgot about Swallow. Yeah, that bit made me laugh, how they go on for a while until they realize they're not in the movie. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Also, not much of an easter egg but looks like I found the Blue Bird. Lookie: <a href="http://www.shipsorboats.com/Xebec.html" target="_blank">http://www.shipsorboats.com/Xebec.html</a> Put a bird on the bowsprit, a cloth cover over the aft, delete two of the side swivel guns, and it's <i>it</i>.

I've actually had both Horatio Hornblower and John Silver as officers in a previous game I was running.

There are a pile of famous pirate/naval officers that can be used as officers, they usually have custom models and are NPC's that are actually 'living' in the world just like you. They compete for quests and crewmen. More than once I've got to a governor or a tavern and been told there was no work or no men available because 'NAME YOUR CAPTAIN' has already been in town and finished that quest or hired every able man in town, or even that he has rented out the room in the Tavern.

Also there are notes in your manual about what file you can add more 'Hero' NPC's to your game.
