Finding Facts on Ship Types, DO NOT TRUST GAMES!

i agree with this a lot, Captain Python. especially in POTC, a great example is the Black Pearl ship, or with the fine Build 11.0, the Warship...you will NEVER see a ship of that size so narrow, it would fall over wouldnt it?? even if i am wrong about that, the guns on the ship are all placed too low and in the wrong places. the ship would get filled up. either way, the black pearl in the potc game is ugly...eighhggg... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

It's a nice movie, but we're talking about REAL pirates. No, the Deppster is NOT a real pirate. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

Well, to be fair, the subject IS about not trusting games... So discussing games in this subject is okay. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

1. Cannon ports were closed when under way and were only opened in battle. Watch POTC and you'll see Barbossa order the ports to be opened AFTER DECIDING TO FIGHT.

2. Secondly, Bilge Pumps were used to remove excess water.

Not if you appreciate the finer points of shipbuilding, and anyway, we're not sitting around talking about the beauty of ships.

In all the `to-do` don't count out your local library. You can do an `inter-library` loan and get ANY book that's in copy in the continental USA (or from over seas if you happen to be enrolled in an accredited university like Texas Tech or the like). I've found all sorts of information on the period this way. Just thought i'd put that out there to anyone interested in getting more real information that's unbiased by the internet.
