sorry, but i haven't visited southern england before, only northern [between york and red car] england, and i live in Kuwait and almost never travel to england.
also, if you can make anything mor similar to the victory than Captain Spectre's, could you make it a replacement for Silehard's ship, so that its one of a kind?

Hey Nelson,

Portsmouth is about 100miles away (160km). I've never actually visited the Victory, only seen the model in our dockyard. Perhaps I should start a campaign to bring the ship back to Chatham.
Might make a trip down there in the summer if I get a chance.

Was thinking of trying my hand at the standard MOW first and making this a second rate with between 90 and 98 guns, then if it came out ok, thought I might see what I could do with the Silehard ship. The figure head on the Victory looks difficult though and might cause problems because the texture map works by reversing the port side of the ship to make the starboard side, so the coat of arms would be wrong.
I like what Seb did with the cabin windows at the back of his Surprise skin, scaling that up might work for the Victory.
Spectre's skin was looking pretty good though when I last saw it - that would make a good quest ship(as the Victory) we should wait to see the finished product.
I think I could make a passable 1st Rate using the MOW Gub skin as a base that would be quite distinct from a Victory model and could be used as part of the RN fleet.

wow, that quite a way away!
if the Victory ever is moved, it would be filmed by all the news stations that could get there in time!
i bet it would be wonderful to see the real Victory sail to chatham itself, rather than be towed there.
anyway, i will look forward to seeing you MOW made.

I've just started work on a 2nd rate. Was looking at the manowars though and they all have the open gallery at the back. I'm afraid if you want an accurate Victory in the game, you'll have to find someone with modelling skills to reshape the backend. I can't do any of that stuff, I only have to open a 3d modelling program and it feels like my head's gonna explode <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" :shock

Should have some screenies of the 2nd Rate later tonight.
Unfortunately, because of the way that the gun ports are arranged on the model, you can't get the nice straight stripes you see on ships like the Victory and it's been quite hard to get them looking even, as you have to go with the curve of the hull.

Hello There, there was a good time, I managed to make some modest and light work for the RN Corvette, this one is very modest but i haven't many time I think that, with Jackamo's light frigate and his Manowar, that pack is now close to be COMPLETE,

The MOW is just about finished, just a couple more touches here and there. I'm thinking of doing another one as well, maybe a rework of the MOW-Gub skin, but first I thought I'd look at doing something with the 64.

What program are you using to do your reskins Seb, I'm using photoshop but was wondering if there was anything better out there.

I've still got to add some ships to the pack like the lineship and your Surprise. I'll get onto that over the next couple of days.

I have been looking on the net for some reference material for French and Dutch Naval skins, but have not had much luck - any suggestions???

If you want to see Dutch ships, search for photo's of the replica's from the "Amsterdam", "Batavia" and "Prins Willem". If you have to choose to make any of these ships, please do the Amsterdam. P.S: capt jackamo, i was wondering if you could continue the work on Captain Spectre's Victory [reskinned Silhard MOW], so that it could get a bit of advancement.
it seems that Captain Spectre is getting very busy lately, so i thought maybe one of the other three great skinners [capt jackamo, Seb' and Petros] could take a bit of the load off of Captain Spectre.
and @ Captain Hawk: can that program of yours redisign the stern of the MOW, so that we would have an 18th Century MOW to make the Victory?
