frigate Rotter Love (or whatever the name is ^^)

Please forgive us for being a bit critical about you finishing the ship. So far, we have had quite a lot of ship models being started, but none ever being released. I think this must've happened about ten times or so at least. I suppose you can understand we don't dare to get our hopes up too much. We <i>are</i> greatly looking forward to your ship and would love to sail her in PotC! She is looking absolutely great.

BTW: If you're making her in 3DS MAX, you can easily convert her to <a href="http://www.avsim.com/vs" target="_blank">Virtual Sailor</a> as well. I'm sure that would be highly appreciated by the Virtual Sailor community and it wouldn't mean much work for you. So once you're done with a version for PotC, please consider a version for Virtual Sailor too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Well, i don't have Virtual Sail, so making a version for VS may be a little hard.I know, i can just export her in the good format, but without VS, it will be hard to test. But, first PoTC ^^, then i will try a version for VS.

... wo... w... Beautiful ship!! pff.... I hardly can say a word! My plans are just to modify stock ships, lets see how it works. ANyone could give me an idea, how to add additions, and how to texturize them? If i just add some vertexes and polys to the model, its only use the ships existing texture, (which looks lame... Like the ship did groved a bodypart of rudder wheel.... ) so, in max7 how can i make some texture for example, for a rudder wheel, to bee usable in potc?

Again... Im really amased. I cant wait to test myself against that beauty, board her, and make it mine.... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
Keep up the good work!!

Dan the Lunatic Wolf, Captain of the 'Black Wolf' pirate corvette. (yea, too mutch wolves...)

Yippee, lads, Ive' became a sailor apprentice! Nice red line. Remind me of my lunatism. (crew always start to be nervous when im smiling) Thin red line....

i hope more ppl make ships, hopefully we will soon have ships to replace all the stock PoTC ones with more realistic and higher detailed ones <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Once again, beautiful looking ship. Keep up the great work.

Cheers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

looking good, but it looks more like a galleon or a caravel than a Frigate. but very nice nevertheless <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

If you get the model done and allow her to be used in VS as well, I'm sure that somebody will want to convert her. If you don't want to do it yourself, I'll be able to find someone else who does want to. It's not all that difficult to do once the model is done. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

She is looking absolutely stunning. But she does look more like a Dutch "Spiegelretourschip" (equivalent of a Galleon) than a corvette. That doesn't matter to me though; I'd love a Dutch "Spiegelretourschip" in the game. Especially if she'd have the proper skin to go with it: With green at the stern, like all Dutch VOC vessels. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

If you just want to retexture her, you should just change the texture path in the .GM file using a HEX Editor. Only if you want to change the model itself do you need 3DS MAX. If you want to know how to use a HEX Editor to change the texture path, say so and I'll try to explain. Unless someone else has explained it before I read it, that is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Maybe this information will clarify. The "Rotor Lowe", was built in the Netherlands in 1597. It was a "frigate" developed from a smaller Galleon. It must be remember the term "Frigate" has basically a non-specific and changing etymology, with the only thing constant being "Speed" of the vessel. The "Rotor Lowe" was a versatile 18 gun scouting vessel. She was generally pressed into service by the Dutch to carry cargo. However, she was originally built to engage the warships of Philip of Spain.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
So she is a "Frigalleon" ^^.

Once, it's done, i think i will let somebody else convert her.
I've looked at how to make a ship for VS and it doesn't look too difficult but without VS, testing her will be difficult.

You could get a <a href="http://download.filefront.com/4645093" target="_blank">free demo</a> that would allow you to test her, though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

New cannon :
<a href="http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rott184se.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/3783/rott184se.th.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /></a><a href="http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rott194oa.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/8706/rott194oa.th.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /></a>

Not as good as the old one but a lot less polys (~9000 for the 18 new and ~34000 for the 18 old).

9000 x 20 cannons is still a lot of polys. I once made a very low poly cannon model for a VS model, because the high poly models that were used just made it unplayable. I still have the .max file, if you're interested. It'd need some improvement though. It looks pretty pathetic to me now... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Ah. That sounds a whole lot more reasonable. Sorry; My mistake. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

nice cannons <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
