Gentlemen of luck?

Zalioth

Sailor Apprentice
Well... nothing much, it's a single pirate ship that seems to love me and tries to attack me... Is it quest related or something? Thanks in advance ^^.

There's only a limited number of ship names, so eventually they're going to start repeating. A quest ship has a distinct sail color on the map (green if you're supposed to talk to the captain and orange if you're supposed to sink/board it) and when approached on the map will give out its name (eg. "lugger Vengeance" instead of "1 ship of pirates").

Thanks but i didn't mean that...

If I get in battle with the ship, the ship always has a different name, random one, and it doesn't say the type of ship, it only says gentlemen of luck... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

@Zalioth: I'm not sure what you mean, then. "Gentleman of Luck" is one of the possible ship names.

Make love to the captain.

Ok thanks ^^. I'll try to board it next time if i have enough crew to see if the captain has something to say ... otherwise, he shall be shark chow <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thwalkplank.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":walkplank" border="0" alt="thwalkplank.gif" />

I think, it isn't. Gents of Luck, afair, is a special type of encounters which usually attack you after your great success. Perhaps, after you had a good catch in treasure hunting, or after capture chubby merchants with holds full of gold.

Seriously? Because there seemed nothing particularly special about the ship that I met, it was just one of a bunch of pirate ships that I bumped into on the map. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Ok that makes loads of sense, they've only appeared after looting a big treasure and while carrying loads of goods, might it be from the merchant (chartering my ship) or mine to smuggle...

Thanks for the answer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> .

Yep <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
They can easily be confused with bounty hunters, who usually hang on your tail.

Seriously - that info about the green/orange sail colors was new to me; I've never seen any green/orange sails yet. I think. But I did see pink ones.
One time it was a quest frigate from Pirate line, so pink is quest ship color then?

<i>Everybody</i> seems to hang on my tail. Hardly a day goes by that I don't have three or four ships chasing me all over the damn Caribbean.

Hahahaha, yeah, that's happened to me too, I just lose them surrounding islands <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thpirateshipff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":piratesahoy!" border="0" alt="thpirateshipff.gif" />

The life of famous pirates provokes to truncate ambitions of those celebrities... about a head. And nothing to do with that, but to sit together with the glass of rum, and by a little bit of peaceful diplomacy getting agreement that, seems, you does not exist.

So they called them Gents of Luck? That's a very lame (and literal) translation, because it's just like what it's called in Russian. The right translation from Russian should be "Swindlers".

Or "Gentlemen of Fortune", eh? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Instead of swindlers, I would think of those guys as Fortune Hunters, Soldiers of Fortune or Gold Diggers (meaning they are trying to steal YOUR gold).

Yeah, good reasoning, we should keep this in mind to be changed in a major mod. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

Sometimes they will leave you alone if you put up their flag.
