GOF thoots

I would suggest a little change for Jack Aubrey:

now Aubrey start with Liuthenent uniform, but at the begin he doesn't have any military rank.

I suggest to change the starting address to privater and put the Liuthenent uniform as buyable (like captain and admiral uniform)-
Same thing for Norringhton.

I like this suggestion, we'll consider it for a future patch after some internal discussions.
Just a question: I would like to see the new uniform always available in the shops, like bullets, and other stuff. How can I do?

Clothing was made rare and hard to find because of the boosts it provides to stats. To edit this, you'll need to open the intitems file and edit the rareity of the clothing entries.

I've already change the rarety from 0.01 to 0.3 (same of the bullets) for all the clothing (but I've increase the price for 100) but still can't find that in the stores.
The only way to find and try that is to cheat the game.

yo what the :gday

this thread is about me hating GOF, not being up to the challenge, and bashing it best i can. :urgh

Not about some Male dude chasing after a special clothing set. :slap
True pirates don't need no clothing. they are covered in blood and dirt! ARRR!
:cheers
Stop the wussing! Sissies! Metrosexuals!

we need a no clothes for Characters mod.
Especially for the female characters.
Would not mind seeing "anne dieu le veut" nakd. Not at all.
I would have her on my fighter crew and take her for a stroll behind the bushes outside the town.

back to bashing GOF now.

you hear me????

i turned the realistic weights off.
am on my sixth Character now, and at last i can keep my men fed and drunk.
damn.
maybe you lads can somehow find a middle ground for the fright weight thing... else i do not see how i can have any use for that function.

I think its a question of trading politics . didn't small boats and luggers do trading along the coasts? For the player starting a career in curacao and wishing to keep things peaceful, its almost impossible to get anywhere without being busted by pirates. even cannons do not help much in the first levels. and ammo and powder and weapons are needed too.
the tracks are just too damn long, to Guadeloupe, Martinique... any friendly french settlement.
and the seas are swarming with Brits pirates and Spaniards looking for booty.
Anyway, the trading done in GoF, COAS in general is inter-island trading, and traffic is too high to pass unseen and unchased.

what would be a good solution? having more cities on the same island, and have these assigned as training target for the first 10 levels.
less long, less pay, more boring, but "doable".
And the few men this allows me to keep as crew profit from the experience too.

until one day, i am able to buy that Lugger ... and have a decent set of cannons, skilled men and guns to defend it and its cargo.

?

more cargo in the hold = key for success.
even one can call me "unrealistic GOF noob whine pussy" now.
For me, this works.

for the rest... bagged me a Brigantine now. ship skins rock. am wishing for some humane sounds, shouts, calls, orders onboard my ship.
the dude who put those master and commander sound snippets into GOF really hat a good idea.
need more of that "realistic" language aboard my ships.

but the textures start bothering me. the ones at the merchants. do not know what it is, will get back on that subject later.

ah! one of these things i never mentioned: I dont get the necessary time to loot all the dead Bodies aroud a ship after a fight. because if i start taking stuff from dead people, i never get the chance to kill the Kaptain.

not a GOF error, but maybe an idea do consider:

Leave me on deck as long as i want, do not make the "kill captain" icon away.
same in the cabin - i wanna grab his stash of wee tobacco and check his pockets before i get to steal his cargo and burn his ship.

ah. and as a good gentleman of fortune, please let me take away his cannons too.
and his mainmast, so i can replace my bowsprit that i lost in battle. and his sails so i can patch up mine.
etc etc etc.

Trololololololololololololol.... wall of text... QQ... trololololololol...

First of all... see the post above...
Second, you should seriously try to get a hold of the game. Are you just trolling or are you for serious still failing after creating 6 chars?
Man lemme give you an advice, first all i just don't get how you cannot get your crew up and how you don't manage to just grab a ship skill in the right things at start, maybe get to an enemy place, start killing those idiots for an hour to get some decent lvl and hopefully get the infantry gun which does 280+ damage, or better jet grab that musketoon in a boarding battle... Oh and for gods sake get some tactics... this isn't EAST INDIA TRADING company.. the trades will start profitable only at a certain point where you have boarded a greta vessel for cargo hold and have an escort ship for it also.
Oh and still the most profitable way on getting some decent cash in the game is go grab your ship and crew give em some guns, give them all yer money till they are heroic and board some vessel... After doing so give the boarded vessel to your officer and sell it at the next best port for some good cash... In the end it pays out great, you can keep your crew up, gather even one of those awesome musketoons and start pirating those ships -_-* You'll have enough time trading when you will be married with Isabella, now be a pirate and do your job and stop trolling in here and bash this game, because in the end all we recognize is a kid that doesn't realize how the game is meant to be played.

The modders are doing a great job, and it's just unkind and disrespectful to bash a game mod as awesome as this, where people actually put their own FREE time in it while they could hang out with their friends, or do some crazy stuff ;)

So people who read this, keep always in mind:

ever tried to use your left mouse button after looting bodys, when the cabin sign is faded away?
surprise... surprise *wink* *wink*

Oh and when your talking bout the sails, mast etc. , how about adding fking spaceships and miniguns and unicorns who make pew pew -_-*
But if you want to have such a thing ingame i suggest you to learn codiung and add these things.. because to repair your stuff there is
a) a port with a shiprepairer
b) some perks which can repair your ship by a small percentage, oh and if you didn't realized it there are always palnks and sailcloth on the boarded ships

Tuvok... its enough. Shut up. I did not ask for your comments.
This Thread i title "GOF thoots" because they are just that: "Thoots".
Read them or ignore them.

And, just for the finesse, i wrote "Thoots" because a true sailor cannot read or write his own name.
Anyone that can, has studied... and is not a sailor no mo´ but belongs to those species that populate the Quarterdeck.
Get it?

Of course... i know these "perks" as you call them. Like Books that when Carried improve your fighting skill.
Funny you mention it... i always sell mine as they make no sense whatsoever. To me. Rather have Cash in the pocket than Magic stuff.Had them for ages.
Of course i know what a port is. Maaaan i been playin´ this thing for like what... 6 months now?
No, the way i play the game, with the goal of making millionaire before 1668, Its pretty hard.

For the Miniguns, spaceships and similar - "google" up my Nickname, hit "images", and see what i pass time with... Darth Tuvok...?

Thank you.

+1 on the ignore list

Lets keep things civilized gents. Like or dislike CoAS (and GoF!) everyone is entitled to their opinion and their prefered playstyle.

Personally i would have locked this topic but thats just me. Anyway if you don't like whats in GOF play COAS Vanilla if you still don't like it then try modding it yourself. But remember we didn't get payed to do this mod, we don't share our work and expect you or anyone to have to pay to download it, we have put many dedicated months into putting together these mods and making COAS more fun. We understand the changes we have made are not for everyone and the realistic weights is a switch so you do not have to play with that on, just imagine how it would have been if it wasn't a switch. We do think of other's and not just what we think would be great in this game, of course their alway's be some who still do not like it but we can't please everyone.

I don't quite see why this conversation got out of hand. The people who play CoAS would want th modders to improve the game, right?
And the modders would value the input of the players, right?

As for cheating or not, the way I figure it that's up to the player. Personally I don't encourage cheating, but if that's the way people want to play it, so be it.
We didn't put a convenient cheatmode into PotC for nothing, for example.

And there's nobody saying you must play the modpack on default settings. That's why the settings are there: so you can turn them off or tweak them if you don't like it.
Sure you can say that defeats the purpose of having the modpack at all, but there's still a lot of additional content that is not toggled with those settings, for example the many new ship models.
The modpack can't be made to cater to everybody's preferences at once, but what can be done is to allow the players to have the choice of what they want, which is exactly what the settings do.

In any case, feel free to continue discussion on the merits of CoAS and GoF and on how to improve things in another thread, but please do keep things civilized.
There's nothing to be won by fighting. Unless you enjoy the fighting and don't want a sensible outcome, in which case we cannot help you. :shrug
