You can "lay up" a ship, just talk to one of your `tavern-hired` officers (or Fred Bob, if you got my quest) and ask them "what is the status of our `layed-up` ships"...

Oh gosh Iggly...

I just finished my Fred Bob quest - Fred Bob (our own Shrimpin' Fool) asked me to import a character from Sea Dogs (Maurikio) into PotC, so I did, and called him Fred Bob and made him a `quest-hired` officer. You go to Falaise de Fleur to hire him, and there is a quest following it where you get to help a lady run off with her pirate lover. Fun stuff abounds, drinking, singing, sneaking around, intrigue, drama, humor, true love (awwww!), and even an epic battle at the end! You should get a lot of entertainment out of it - and you'll get a great bosun in the bargain - our own FRED BOB HIMSELF!

Fred Bob did a masterful job "translating" the dialog for his character so he appears properly salty - I think you will enjoy him immensely! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
