Hows Your Game Going aka Storyboard

Hi Luke159
Nice.
I need to restart v3.2 at the sailors level and try again. Captain was to darn hard and a Pirate character is difficult row to hoe.

Diary of Sea Captain Lord Fauntleroy
-----------------------------------------------
The fall and winter of 1667 are now history. Things was rather difficult as me crew had a mutiny again me. They was a wee bit perturbed on lack of wage payments. So I had to do what any self respecting captain would do and proved to the rest o the crew that I is their captain and will remain so. I taught the mutineers a lesson o respect by manor o sword and pistol.

After that mutiny in November I figured for the crews sake, I best captain the little War Tartane 'Andromaque'. Now after spending my whole career a captain of large vessels, the Tartane is a wee bit different and took some real gettin used to. The crew is 64 men strong and cargo hold is at 306, after her expensive refit in Bermudas. She has 8, 8 lb. culverins so she cain't do much damage to any foe, The aiming of her cannons is a little difficult too. These short comins no matter to me, she is a fine seaworthy craft and I loves to sail her. The excitement o battle in the little craft is unequal and we had boarded 4 ships now and captured each one with me small crew o 64 sailors.

Now fer some reason sailin the little craft makes me feel young again, I must admit. Reminds me of a old hallow log I usta float in on a wee pond near me grand elders farm back in me Dear old England. Now fer sure the Tartane is a tad bigger then that log but I do feels young again when I sails her. Thars just some thin right special bout that small boat an the feelin she gives me its like being all in love again for the first time.

Now its can be a little humiliatin to sail up to a harbor in such a small craft. A right blessed lass on shore in Willemstad was a poken fun a me and me Tartane. She was a wonderin if me equipment were a tiny as me ship e tiny. Well I took that lass for a spin around the harbor and a windy day it twas. Maybe twas the sea spray or maybe all the rocking the little boat was a doin but wouldn't you know it that lass got a bit o excitement an for to long her privates was danglin off the killick and a sound o her delight filled the air.

Now I must admit tis ain't me normal way o doin things with the lasses but that one she needed a proper teachin to o manors and a proper lesson she did receive. I toughts her you can no judge a Sea Captain by the size o his ship nor by the looks o his face tis what's in a mans heart thats important and nothin else. Another new friend I did make this time aboard me magical little Tartane. I just loves sailin this little boat she is pure magic to me old salt filled hart.

Into the Port O Spain shipyard for repairs then to the merchant for supplies and a large purchase of cattle. I wished a good bye to my new friend and then made way for me Tartane, then onto Guadeloupe we will sail, on what I hopes is a right fine profit on those cattle.

March 18 1668, Port o Spain, Trinidad n Tobago, Lord Fauntleroy

Diary of Sea Captain, Lord Fauntleroy

Well we put sail outa Tortuga one days before Christmas Day 1667, whenst I spotted a most peculiar site. You see there was this little feller in red clothes and he was jumpen round on the sandy beach. Now I ain't fer certain buts I think he was sendin some kinda fancy signal er something.

Anyways the next morn we did arise to find many presents scattered about the ships hold. There was one small package addressed to the ships captain, so I opens it, and to my surprise inside was a new glass eyeball just like the one I lost a long while back. The color o this one even matched me good eye. Twas a very Happy Christmas indeed.

Lord Fauntleroy, December 25, Christmas Day, 1667, adrift at sea one day out of Tortuga.

Warning:This picture of the little feller in the red clothes may not be suitable fer tender ones to view.

Well I may aswell get this topic started again then huh.

New game = GOF era module 2
Difficulty = Skipper (its been a long time since I last played)
Mod options = all realistic. (surrender off)

Normally I play as Redd Leg Greaves but seeing that this is my first venture into the era mod I decided on taking a new character and after spending a long time looking through the characters I decided that Black Sam was the one for me (that sounds so gay) anyway moving on. I spent almost a week at Bermuda building up my crew and hiring a medic who funny enough was a more capable navigator than me, so he took the role as navigator so we can actually catch up to ships trying to escape or should we ever find ourselves in a situation that we are the ones who need to run then we have a better chance than if I was navigating the ship.

Not bad, she looks nice and has 16 guns. and a nice spacious cargohold that I will want to fill up very quickly. A shame about the speed, but I very much doubt I will be holding onto this ship for to long, been a pirate cargo space and speed are very important. Oh did I forget to mention that part, yes I'm a pirate with dreams of riches and power that no person has ever seen before. Now back to the ship, she can mount 16, 20Ibs guns which is very nice and I'm sure will come in very handy for when I can hit things other than the water. The good thing is we can sit a little further back perhaps out of range from any ships we attack and pound them into submission. Yes yes I know pirates can't afford to sink ships, they need to loot them first. Well in less the ship is of use to me I have no interest in the ship other than what its got stored away in its cargohold, so pounding the hell out of a ship isn't a problem for me. But that's something for the future. Right now I don't have the money to upgrade the guns and if I did I wouldn't, pointless upgrading something I have very little experience in using so may aswell use these small guns and move onto bigger guns when I'm a more skilled gunner.

It didn't take me long to find someone to attack, or as the case was someone willing to attack me. I figured for this encounter it would be wise to focus on taking the upper hand and reduce the enemy ships speed and then we have an advantage that we can use to help reduce our loses and win the battle. I just hope this ship isn't empty because I will need to pay the crew and right now we don't have enough money to do that. Although we could go back and kill a few more pirates before leaving for sea if needs be, well a pirate needs to keep his ship in prime condition and not been very good with money management I over spent a little and had no other means of making the required amount to fix the ship up ready for our inevitable battles.

Tune in next time when we hope to find something of value in the cargohold.

We have lost a lot of crew and taken some heavy damage to our hull and sails, but the enemy ship is now a sitting duck at our mercy after loosing a mast. Now for us this is a perfect opportunity to improve my gunnery skills and kill as many of their crew before boarding as we can.

After boarding and killing anything that moved we looted the bodies and ship, the cargo wasn't really of much importance but will have to do. A shame we lost so many in the boarding but our guns was almost all gone. Never the less the ship its self wasn't worth trading with because she had a smaller cargohold and the hull wasn't much weaker not to mention we can hold more crew than that ship could. Back to port from some much needed repairs and some more crew I think and maybe if money profits permit another officer who's better at gunnery than me.

After fixing our ship, hiring more crew members and a new officer trained in gunnery it was time to go back out. The date 28th January 1665, while chasing a Spanish ship for almost a day we found ourselves been the ones been hunted. It was an English privateer who fancied his chances. Looking at how rough the sea is though this will not be an easy battle. Many perfect opportunities will be missed due to the waves been so high, so what to do in a situation like this. Well there is really only one thing to do, take the enemy masts down so we can move in closer to deliver those critical his and win this battle.

That's 2 battles we've been in now and in both battles the enemy ships have been faster than us, the first tried its luck and is now feeding the fishes while this one, is the one that got away. But all was not lost, just in front of us was the cargo they dropped so we gladly helped ourselves to it. 4 Chillies, 36 planks and 26 units of mahogany was all we could find. Better than nothing although I would love to have been able to see how much more mahogany that ship had onboard.

Just a few hours later we find ourselves a Dutch trader all alone and ripe for the picking. I didn't need a second invitation and although we are most likely out gunned and perhaps out crewed, we should be the faster ship (we hopped). Tactic for this battle, well if we are faster than its simple, pound the hell out of them and try to board the ship. Because its a trade ship I think we might even keep this ship and sell it back at Bermuda, well we do need the money and we do need to upgrade the speed of our ship. Or we could be lucky and that trade ship could have everything I look for in a ship, time will tell.

This is getting annoying now as we watch the 2nd ship to sail away, we managed to fire a few shots from our guns from the bow, but we couldn't hit the ship even at the distance we are now the enemy ship was able to hit us, either bigger cannons or culverines mounted. We had no choice but to once again accept defeat.

Finally a captain that is willing to fight, rather than turn and face them I decided I would continue the heading I was on and let them come to me. I was sick of chasing ships only to watch them sail away, now I want to let my frustration out and this captain has no idea what punishment he has let himself in for.

Game crashed as mast was ripped off the Advanced Sloop.

I have been continuing to "Hold Fast" with my character, "Baron" Jack Wolfe after nearly 154 game play hours in GOF Eras (Admiral Difficulty, lowest experience increase gain speed) over the course of playing off and on since NOV 2013.

Currently, Henry Morgan is still in England, England is at war with France (change of historical events), and Isabella Triepolo is safely in San Juan.
I continue to defy her wishes and lie to her that I no longer conduct privateering for profit.

The date is 21 March 1678, 15 years since I started my career, and boy we have come a LONG way.

My latest adventure was seizing Port Royale from the English after a three day battle with the 200+ gun fort and taking the city as a "free port" for my own.
I was NOT giving this colony over to France after that fight.
Jeremy Pitt was installed as the deputy governor collecting significant income.

Then after only a week, the English sent a fleet of 5 Man-O-Wars to take it back.
After beating this attack, England sent another fleet less than a month later!
I had to start storing large warships with the port controller to prepare for the invasions.
After this point at the conclusion of the the second invasion, I was getting tired of being attacked by England to reclaim this city, so I payed a pirate diplomat over 20 Million pieces of eight to make the invasion sieges stop forever.

Now all is quiet in the Caribbean, trade exchange in Port Royale is flourishing, but I continue to be hunted by the English...

I'm not sure I like the way my game is going. Once I hit level 25 it seemed to shift gears and got harder. My fleet is 3 level 5 ships and a level 3 escort ship. So suddenly I'm running into fleets of level 3 warships led by a level 4 light fluyt and getting hammered. I'm outmanned and outgunned.

Plus the English got mad at me and put a bounty on my head. So now at every port there are 2 guys waiting for me. They are easily taken care of but methinks it is only a matter of time before there are 4 or more of them. Whoopee.

Methinks I need better ships but there is nothing in the shipyards and it has been some time since I captured a ship that was better than what I already have.

All settings are pretty much standard as this is my first game of COAS.

In ERAS I am at level28 and am blockaded in port at Santa Catalina. Every attempt to break out fails as I am intercepted by a superior Pirate fleet. The last attempt ended with me being sunk. :pirateraft

GOF2 is a little better so far. I just made level 7.

The kill the beggars quest is on hold. I managed to get as far as meeting Oliver Trust. Many attempts all end the same way. I strike him till I'm out of energy doing little damage, then he pulls out his gun and kills me. I will come back at level 18 or so.

I got the mummy powder! :monkeydance Now I'm looking for three Aztec thingies. :pirates

Did a bit of looking for the Bluebird and talked to Mr. Norton. Methinks I need a bigger boat as this fluyt with its crew of shore loafers is useless in combat.

After talking to Mr. Norton I was approached by someone with a mission to take a passenger, a Mr. Bolton, to Port Royal. That sounded easy so I accepted it. Made it to port fine but there the guards were most uncooperative. :duel: After repeated attempts I found where the soldiers I want to talk to were. That got me into prison where I met Morgan. Then I was left outside the cell with no weapons and everyone attacked me. When Morgan himself killed me I knew it was bugged and deleted all saves having to do with that quest. :nerbz

Now I am just free sailing and trying to improve my crew.

Well, I accidentally met the Bluebird and it went as expected. I fired all my cannons and hit it once or twice. It sailed in close, blew away my crew, boarded me, and wiped us out.

So this one is on hold until my cannoneers magically learn how to shoot the things.

Started a new game a while back. After some battles I have a new fleet, a pinnace, a schooner, and a frigate. It seems more cannons are more important than the size of said cannons. In fact smaller may be better. So all ships have 8 pounders now.

Tried the Tenochitlan quest. It started well but when I entered the pyramids I found I am a 2 stroke kill, and with 3 of them I only last a few seconds. So that one is done. It would help if my officers could join in the fun.

Its been a long time since i got to play COAS like this, most of my time has been spent editing, testing, more editing followed by more testing. I think the highest i ever got was to June before starting over to test something out, i figured to show how much fun i'm having i would put some funny comments in. Hopefully this will make other's want to tell us of there experience in the caribbean. You do know guy's it doesn't have to be COAS it can be POTC aswell.
