I seem to suck on Buld 14! Please help :)

I recently downloaded Build 14 for POTC, and i was amazed at how well advanced it had made the game, but there are few problems im running into that are giving me the headache:

First and foremost, i am playing the Nathaniel Hawk story, because i wanted to see if there were any real changes to the storyline. Pardon my noobiness here, but i never seem to get past the Oiseau, the barque you need to sink or capture after the French raid Speighstown. The naval combat system is for me, excruciatingly difficult to master, and although a Barque is slow as anything compared to a Lugger, i always end up sinking.

Or even if i try to board the ship, im never able to, why is this?

Maybe you should switch to Arcade Game Mode and try again; that's probably easier.
However, I think that requires you to start a new game.

You don't have to rush into that battle unprepared. Take your time and get a better ship or two or three.

That little barque is very fast and maneuverable, meaning you will take damage until you can shoot out its sails. Then you can move in for the kill.

just kill the captain on land. much easier, and you can loot him from a huge load of money to boot. be sure to get the hell out though, preferable by the beach if you were smart enough to land there first.

I agree with Morgan. Kill the captain. It is easier so. If you don't want to do that, well... cheat! Destroy the Barque and... enjoy! :doff

i think a nice way of cheating is have someone else sink the barque. it works pretty well as long as you don't get your own ass kicked in the process.

Yeah, I forgot. You can make Amiel sink the barque for you. Or better said: You could make... Are you still there? :shrug

Well what I did was select transfer ships, go on the lugger which Boon was the captain of now, and kill him :ixi . Simples. Or, what I think I tried to do was replace him with one of my captains, so that way I could keep both ships, so I could sell it later on, or use it as part of my trading. 8)

I think you can do that. I always try to find a much more lucrative option :d:

I did it with some quest where you had to escort this guy to somewhere and back. I went along with the first half of the journey, sold all his ebony for like 90k, talked to him to get my half reward, then selected transfer ships (since it was a better ship) and killed him :ixi . I probably should have selected one of my own captains to take control of the ship and keep the captain as an officer. Been a while since I tried to do that with the Boon quest, so I'll probably just play it again to see if I wasn't just himagining things. But I definitely did the first thing I mentioned.

As you could imagine, my reputation doesn't seem to stand very well :whipa :slap It would be nice if there was someway I could actually buy supplies from shops without being booted out all the time. A change of clothes could reset your rep to neuteral perhaps? Rep you gain with clothes will stick, and you can't change that. So if you have a bad rep and can't do anything with a very bad rep, you could quickly chnage into some other clothes. Just a thought :sail

different clothes can cost you as little as a few hundred gold. avoiding punishment for being a criminal for a few hundred gold is a bit dumb. better idea is to just not murder people all over the place. people tend to like you better.

It was only initially though. My rep improved quite a lot after I got enough of what I needed originally through evil means, so i could go on to doing things which increased my rep without having to be evil.

It was just some random idea that was floating in my head thats all.
