And yes, it was a name... I gues it was written "by petros' or smth like that... Didn't wanted to offend someone (you), but I remooved that, becouse I don't think that this kind of name will give anny realism to the game...

But if you'll ask, I'll re-make it in 5 mins... Just write it...

And again, sorry, didn't wanted to offend you (if offended <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> )<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Well, for someone who doesn't want to offend, you sure try hard to do just that.

By comparison to your proposed 5 min fix, and I'm sure it took a little longer to slap my work onto a different background layer, it took me several hours to research the various parts of the KhaelRoa jungle and put them together in proper scale, adding in appropriate landmarks.

If you wanted to do jungle maps, there are plenty of un-researched ones for you to do.

If Pieter or anyone else wanted it to be made a little more "realistic", they know that they only had to ask me.

The map didn't have "by", but just Petros in the lower right.
As for realism, what is real is the fact the I made that map and you didn't!
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I already fixed that... It now looks as it was, just with new background. But if understand correctly (My english is bad not only on speling), you don't like at all that I touched your map. If that so, I'll delete what I made from my harddrive. It isn't included into download file for now.

The fact, that you made it is clear and I respect that. If you took several h to make that, then you should say if he isn't as real as he should, not me... becouse for realy I tookt only ~15 mins to slap it to deferent background... Tooked longer to remake alpha-layer.

Realy sorry, other time I'll ask for permision. And again, I didn't wanted to offend you... Just say and I'm ready to delete that map I remade.

Edit: And I'm making jungle maps, just using more SLiB style... I thot you map should look more ancient-writing, 'couse other will look more modern than your to me...

Thanks very much! VERY good job on all of them!
I'm especially happy with the microscope which is now a LOT better.
We should be able to find a use for them.
Some will be easy (books and compasses), others will be harder.
But there's no reason to not use them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />
BTW: Don't we have two types of clocks? Could you make another clock texture?

Your compass is still in very good use, Petros. I didn't count yours, because it's a special one and not a normal one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />
What's with the maps? SuperDurnius didn't make a Khael Roa one yet, did he? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

OK... Will look at it.

BTW: Petros, no reply? I realy like to know what I should do with your map...

If Pieter would like my KhaelRoa map to look a little more tattered and older, then I should be the one to do it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Understood... Deleted... And sorry again... (I gues I'm starting to repeat myself)...

All is forgiven. I guess in this business it is easy to step on other's toes.

Yes... For realy I only managed to know, that map is yours only when I deleted that name with my Eraser tool...

I'm not sure what SuperDurnius' maps look like, but it would be nice if all maps look a bit similar(ish).
But I don't care if they're a bit different in style either.
It's your map, Petros. You choose. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

SD's maps are awesome. He's done one hell of a job on maps, icons and more at this point. I'm highly impressed with what he's done.

That works for island maps if we consider them made by the same cartographer hired by the EIC.

However, jungle, treasure, and explorer maps made by very different individuals over extended periods of time, using different materials and for very different purposes, should "realistically" be different!

That makes a lot of sense <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
- plus it would allow for "forged" maps the player could buy, (and could range from NOT being accurate through to down right wrong) just to add to the frustration level in the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
In fact where we have islands/towns with similar layouts the player could go to the "same place" on each respective island/town and if they have the correct map get the reward, but, if they have a forged one, some sort of negative effect (loss of money, or loss of reputation etc.).
Or just a plain "dead end" when on reaching the respective spot. (It will probably increase complaints to the bug list though! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" /> )

Just thot a little:
Fact: My maps are hight quality...
Fact: there should be 19 islands + world map
Fact: One map takes 4 mb space...

little math: 20 maps * 3 qualityes = 60 files * 4 mb = 240 mb... And that if I only will make maps for islands... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

And there will be 60 files... and posibilitye to make only 60 maps ingame, which will be all the same in all periods... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

... So ... I thot about posibility to make maps throu code...

Let me write down ewerything...

For saving file space:
I could lower the file count. I wont create new file for new quality map. Let's say redmond map:
<img src="http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/113/sample1cw0.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> + <img src="http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2077/sample2mx9.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /> + <img src="http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/2433/sample3mu5.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
First image represents age of map. Those maps, which could be created in the first periods, they should be new, and low quality. But the same maps in latest periods should be old...
Second image shows island(s)
Third could show map's nation or smth like that.
and on top of this result via code there should be added texts and icons (I'll make town, port, lighthouse, rocks, dungeon and ect icons) to show maps quality. To low quality map there shouldn't be show dungeons and ect...
Some math: 20 maps (img2) + 4 age (img1) + 6 (7) nation (img3) = 30 files * 4mb = 120mb
And that will make posibilitye to make 60 map for ewery nation, that meens it take lower count of space and 6 time larger possibiliyes... (360 maps <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> )

It is a really good idea, but how are we going to implent it code wise? You then need to know something about coding Interface.

That's the tricky thing... I don't know s**t about coding, so if someone could take that part of work... I'll be ready to make all those images in a week... becouse that method also saves lot's of work for me too...

And afcoures, I listed files only from my mind... I don't realy shure if there be only images I need to make. If someone could code that, that someone also could say egsact files I need to make...

P.S. I also have couple of more ideas for maps... But let me think a little about them, so I could write them...

Would, in theory, be possible, but again we get that code-manpower problem that keeps nagging us.
I like the idea, but with nobody to actually to do it, we're in a bit of a tight spot.
For now, I would be very happy already with just one map for each island,
though your idea would be preferrable if we could make it to work one day. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

And for the periods mod... There should not be good quality maps in the first periods... And all maps should look new (with best background). And in latest period, the best quality maps looks new, and those that were created in first period should look old...

Also my another idea is (i think I mentioned it for you little time ago, Pieter) to add Library/Jeweller/(update)Blacksmith into Caribbeans. That should add some modders (characters) into game for some use. (I imagine Thomas The Terror selling me some maps/books from his lybrary...) And I even have Idea for one mini quest using those Library/Jeweller/(update)Blacksmith thinks... I'll going to take this in a short, becouse it doesn't require that interface coding (maps)...

I tryed to contact Pirate_kk, if he's interest in this cind of job. I meen if he is interested at all... But still waiting for reply. That will require lots of coding, even in ItemsInit... Becouse map should have values as 'Nation' 'MinDate' 'Quality' and ect.. I gues... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Pieter, for now, I'll make 2 paks... One map per Island, the best quality... And another will hold those with alpha... By my idea... Afcourse that will make some time... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" /> Afcourse if Pirate_kk will answer one day, That might change...

SD.

Sounds good to me. Of course you are right; I'm just trying to think of what's realistic for the time being as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Perhaps I can sell some books. I'm reading a lot lately (last 4,5 months).
I even bought a whole bunch of new ones recently.
Only joking of course; I don't need to have YET another influence in the game.
It's other people's time now! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
