Killing Edward Law...

...how?
For one I have to use a crappy sloop or lugger that can barely damage his ship anyways and even if I can get in boarding range without too many crew losses my guys get slaughtered within seconds.
And my crew has max soldering skill and is armed to the teeth.
I mean huh? What tactics do u use here?

Fort Cumana can help ....

Also make sure their morale is Heroic. Pay them some extra money to get them there if you need to.

i also lured him to the fort, but even that dont work allways, to damn strong lol, i had to load 3 times till the fort hit a nice shot at him and broken his master sail, so he was a siting duck for the fort, then only had to wait till the fort kill his crew and get close for boarding, just be carefull and dont let the fort sunk hit hehe

one more thing, when i did it, after i took the boat, the fort keep firing but we are not in battle(probably a bug) so just land fast before you sink <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Fort was ready for volley and when you board began to shoot. You captured the brig, Fort continued to shoot. The same can be when boarding. Your volley, but then begins boarding, some of fire on the captured ship.

yes, that happens a lot, i allways try to avoid boarding while im shooting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

but in this case, the fort was really firing at me coz i also tought it was only a volley that was being shoot when i started to board, but then fort restart a new volley so i had to land and being allowed to land make me think that was a bug, well, not a big thing either, landing solved my problem so im happy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

How did you find him? I talked to everyone in Bermuda, went down there and nothing. I've tried going into the city and talking to everyone and even sat outside for two months waiting to see if his ship shows up. Did I miss something between Bermuda and Cumana?

If your ship is too high a class he wont show up.

Well I'm in a Caravel, I'll try and find something smaller I guess. Thanks for the info!

There are two more log entries between the Bermuda one and finding Edward.

First is the information that he only preys on lugger or sloops - I got this info from the bartender in St.Johns if I remember correctly but I think you can get it anywhere after Bermuda.

Then you need to get in a sloop, enter seamode and you should get another update that you are now ready and should look in the waters near Cumana.

I simply sailed near Cumana, entered seamode and there he was then...

Yeah I've been trying to beat him for hours now. Even once the fort gets his crew to 1/3 I can't beat him, I guess lvl 6 must be to low to try. If theres no timer I think I'm going to go sink more spanish ships <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hell yes, I was a extreme difficult battle.
I did it pretty early and it took countless reloads and support from the fort until I could get most of my men on his almost sinking ship alive.
I hided in a corner as good as I could during the boarding battle and did only fight the 2 or 3 remaining enemies left after all of my crew got killed...
And the duel with Edward himself I tried several times, too, because he on-shot / on-hit killed my newbie char most of the time... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I saved just before I went from map to sea, so I could make sure he was coming toward the fort from the west. Then hid my ship right next to the fort in the n/e corner right up next to the cliff. This way Mr. Law takes on the fort and only launches some random shots at you. In my game he kicked the heck out of the fort <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Once his ship was hammered down I went after him, but I just can't beat his crew. Its a good strat, I'll just have to use it later, after I take this sloop up to Bermuda and see if I can upgrade it..... Thanks for the help!

The first thing I did, was to make sure my cannoneer has got the "pro cannoneer" perk because that s*** is the real deal. With that perk, I found it a lot easier to reduce their enemy crew (for boarding) with buckshots, but unfortunately you cannot rake up critical shots to personnel (right?). Second thing was to upgrade my Sloop's cannon caliber in Bermuda just for a personal confidence boost. Once the battle begins, try to inflict as much damage as you can to the enemy crew, before getting raped by Law's cannons. And this is when it gets tricky. When boarding, I did a lot of savescumming (who the heck came up with this word??) so that I would spawn in places nearby the enemy's gunners. I took them out at the very beginning because these guys can pretty much cap anybody in one shot (given that the number of your crew is much inferior to Law's). Once they're dead, I will try to remain by the stairs for the enemy to come approach me, so that the enemies will only attack from one direction. After that I just went "Next! Next! Next!". Once you sweep off those intelligently-deficient lapdogs, there may be a few of your crew still fighting for their lives, if you're lucky. Help them with extra care, do a lot of swinging since the enemy is not paying attention to you. Once done, heal up, reenergize, and its time to face pussy-ass Law. This guy has got some hard meat, and on top of that, he could pierce through your defense. My advise is to go all-out, keep swinging, don't give him any chance to hit ya.

Sounds like you have a solid strategy, sennengurushi. I'll try your suggestions next time I have a shot at Law.

As for savescumming, you can thank Sordid for THAT one. **grins**

I talked to jackman first and then the shipwright, the shipwright was the one that told me Eddie stole the ship. You might be able to talk to the bartender and pay for info, if it works he should tell you something about a brig down in cumana attacking luggers and sloops.
