Messages from the Moderators

for now you can just scare people with your not-yet-existing power and gloat. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

exactly, but the most simple things I have figured out now, (like banning, mwuwuwhahahah!) just kidding <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> , editing posts, and such stuff, but not yet split posts. But I can change names.

and scare people.

But I promised to be a good moderator, so I live up to that promise <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

.....until that fateful day. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

...when s*** start to happen. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

such as, NOW MAUAUHWHAHAHAH!

I am not going to abuse this thread anymore, because it looks like it is going the wrong side again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

yeah. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

So how about that invisible modders-only subforum? I'll see if I can make that in a couple of days if there are no major objections. Then we can see what happens. Might indeed save us a lot of trouble with complaints about not-working alpha/beta mods. We could then also keep all the new PotC ships to the invisible forum, so nobody who doesn't know how to put the in their game can try to use them. The amount of people who messed up their game trying to install the Dutchman is NOT funny. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I think it is a good idea, WE can show our work, and post them as tests. And there are no complaints of people who don't know how to install those things, but still do so.

Sorry, Pieter, I thought it may have been one of your administrative functions, that's why I asked. I see now that it is an option we have. I don't know why I never noticed it before. I was always looking for it because I thought it was just a box that you had to click on and off and it turned out that's exactly what it was.

Salty, Pieter must have activated it to make it appear, it was never an option before. I questioned Rupert about this some many months (or a year) ago but he never found an answer. It obviously is some option to administrators in setting up the board.

BTW Pieter, thanks for looking and finding it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Thanks, Laz, for confirming the option wasn't there either. I was really feeling pretty stupid after complaining about those signatures for so long. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> Thanks as well, Pieter. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Yeah; I happened to run into the option two days ago when testing some of my moderator's powers and, as you requested that, I figured I'd enable it for you. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Welcome Thomas to the wonderfull world of Moderating!
Just my two doubloons. thar been to much spam'n of threads not only in POTC threads. As a Moderator it is required to monitor all forums. Any such said threads by offending members and you know who are. I will delete and send warning. I've recently deleted a long time members post containing foul langauge and inappropiate forum behavour.Any more of this crap I will start banning <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I don't read all forums myself; most notably I don't ever read the Throwing the Bones forum. I simply don't have the time.

Understandably so Pieter
Having read recent posts in diffrent forums including POTC forums I want to make this perfectly clear.
Foul language will not be tolerated
Constant Spamming of other members threads will not be tolerated
There will be consequences for repeated warnings from Admin/Moderators for said posts.

The statement that follows is not meant to be sarcastic - something was telling me I ought to explain myself:

I'm guessing you probably mean my Mount & Blade thread, Skull - I'm sorry I got carried away with some of what I typed in there, and I guarantee you that won't happen again.

I always believed that drawing bad attention from moderators within your first week - let alone your first year - on a forum was a pretty dumb thing to do. It probably makes me look really bad, too. If anything, I probably look worse than half of the people who my topic was on.

I had read your warning last night, but I figured I should wait until today to reply - I wanted to make sure what I typed couldn't be taken wrong.

This is for anyone who hasn't read my topic: What I wrote was against members of another forum who seemed to have some issues with Pirates Ahoy!, reasons which are unknown to me. Something one of their members said touched a nerve, and I went overboard in my rebuttle. Later actions by what I'm assuming was the forum's owner resulted in the removal of my account and of my post. I now know I should have listened to the voice in my head that was telling me to get up and walk away from the computer for awhile, but instead I chose not to. Things just escalated from this point on.

This explanation may seem a little weird, but is no way intended to be taken as me trying to get out of what I did.

Sorry again for my actions.

Stallion

Thanks for the tips skull. I almost read every topic in view new posts, but I don't really know when to delete. When faul language I understand, but if it is more innocent? If there is spamming a-la Cylon-Morgan <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Should I delete them right away?

hmm..... maybe if the entire post is of no importance at all, or for the topic. but how about pirate-lingo-swearwords?

Stallion Matey, I had no problems with your thread or your posts, in fact found it entertaining and got a chuckle out of it. Posts I deleted were Cylons for foul language. My apologies to you if i did not make it clear as to who the offender is in your thread <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
