PROGRAM\SHIPS\ships_init.c for all the ship's data and RESOURCE\TEXTS\INI\English\common.ini for the ship's ingame name to appear.

You can change the number, but it won't have any impact unless you also change the model. That'd be a bit tricky, so I recommend you just try and get her ingame with your new skin. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Oh. of course you can remove some cannon locators from the model with <a href="http://www.s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods/potc_downloads/tools/tool.rar" target="_blank">Inez Dias' Tool</a>. But then you'd get some unfiring cannons.

Ok, I don't understand the tool, so I'll put up with 106 guns, but I've got an idea, if I put 100 guns in ships init, wouldn't that show up in the shipyards and the page where you view your ship/ships? 'cause I don't reckon people count how many guns there are/are firing, do they? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

On another note, the ship is still using the Endeavors texture, I put my retexture of the fearless on the endeavor, but as i say, it uses the endeavors texture, so I'll re-skin the endeavor.

It's starting to seem like more trouble tha it's worth, but I'll keep trying.

You can change the cannons count, yes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

You can't put a retexture of the Fearless onto the Endeavour. It'll look BAD! The reason is they're different models and they're mapped differently, so nothing will end up where it's supposed to. In the case of the Endeavour, you need to HEX-edit Endeavour_hull.gm and not Endeavour.gm.

I opened the Endeavour.gm (now Dauntless.gm) in GMviewer to find out what textures I need, and then i did the same for the Endeavour_hull.gm (now Dauntless_hull.gm), and the second uses a lot of wierdly named textures, do I need those, or just the ons that Dauntless.gm uses: Deck.tga and RN_Heavy_Frigat.tga?

thx a lot, sorry if you were hoping to have got this long ago.

No, you need the "lots of weirdly named" textures. The Endeavour/Dauntless.gm file is actually a completely different ship that is hidden below the actualy visible ship. Changing those textures will have no visual impact.

ahhh, ok, working on it now, should be done soon, I'm now working in a folder called dauntless3, so third time lucky.

OK, been absent for a bit, got a game I love but was broken before, and have been playing that manically, but just done some more on the dauntless. BIG problem. The tx convertor seems to desperately want the edited files to be upside down (trying to convert back to tx); even when I flip the file upside down in ACDsee application and save it, it just stays upside down. What's wrong now? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Huh? I've never had any problems with that. Can you attach the file you've got now? I'll see if I can get it working properly.

For your information, this is the paint scheme for the <i>Dauntless</i>:

<img src="http://kazeite.republika.pl/PotC/Dauntless.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

And this is the paint scheme for the <i>Endeavour</i>:

<img src="http://kazeite.republika.pl/PotC/Endeavour.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

WOW! COOL, Kazeite! Those ships really DO look similar. So the Dauntless can indeed be made as a variation of the Endeavour. Of course, the Dauntless should have the same colour scheme as the HMS Interceptor you're working on. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Where did I get those? Well, I drew them, of course <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks to your side view, I had the base to work on, which, combined with side view of <i>HMS Victory</i> and side view of the <i>Endeavour</i> set has allowed me to produce this side view. Although it needs some more work (especially the bow), it's useful for showing of painting scheme <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And Pieter, of course they look similiar - it's the same base picture, only with different paint job <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Great, that'll help loads!

I'm just going to have another go now, I'll edit after that.

EDIT: Ok, here it is, I'll also post at the beginning of this thread:

Download: <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?71ilyxh1mip" target="_blank">http://www.mediafire.com/?71ilyxh1mip</a>

EDIT2: Sorry, but since Willhostforfood is down, I didn't know where to host the files, but found this one, unfortuanately, it only lets you download the screenshot. I've looked for better sites, but can't find any.

I've made a ship! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Congratulations on your first ship, Darth-me! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
If you save your screenshot as JPG, you can just attach it to your forum post like this:
[attachment=1488:Dauntless.jpg]
Use the "Add Reply" or "More Options" buttons for replying, then use the Attachments options in the screen that comes up. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Have a look at attached screenshot: The HMS Interceptor and HMS Dauntless both in Redmond Port during the Curse of the Black Pearl film quest! It's the first unfinished version of the Interceptor; Kazeite is still working on finishing her properly. Once the Interceptor is done, could you possibly update the colour scheme of the Dauntless to match with the Interceptor?
