Solved my own ship firing on me

Ok, i just deperted from oyster bay and when i start to sail, i find my ship has turned against me and starts to attack. Is this a bug? Now just to let u guys know, when i switch captains on that attacking ship, the ship is normal again.

There could be two things happening:

1. An intentional mutiny on your companion ship due to the morale there being too low.
If this is indeed the case, you should not be able to swap captains AFTER it happened, because the ship would not actually be under your command anymore.

2. A bug. This usually occurs if loading a Save At Sea savegame and I've not heard of it happening during regular play.

Yeah, methinks that happens if one saves at sea either right after a battle or when there are still enemy ships around. But it is very rare and I can't quite remember what triggers it.

One thing that works: Get yourself an Escort Quest, then hoist a pirate flag and save.
When you reload that save, your companion escort ship will still be in your fleet, but with its own original nationality.
Since every nation is hostile to the pirates, your escort ship will now attack you.

It's either as other's said and they have mutinied or a bug.

Did you recently capture the ships?

I've only ever had a similar issue once, I captured a ship and it continued firing on me, I quick traveled and it fixed itself...

Reverting to the previous save is usually the best action.

yeah it's a captured ship and when i change captains, i reload the event before setting to sea. It seems the captains reputation has something to do with it. The two caps with rascal reps attacks me the one with neutral does not.

That would be a Companion Mutiny then. If there is a large difference between YOUR reputation and your COMPANION reputation, you'll get into trouble.

Aye, so if your reputation is "Hero", you should recruit hero officers too or dashing, well, as long as its not too far apart as Sire Pieter Boelen have mentioned. Its like real life, its hard to dealt with people that are too off with your comfort zone or just not like you. That's just like compatibility issues. :cheeky

Exactly. Here + Neutral works fine. But Hero + Terror of the Seven Seas is basically instant mutiny. :whipa
