New Characters

Col. files....no, not at the mo. I'll have to read up a bit\a lot more on directional lighting & rendering etc.. Haven't got that far into it yet.

I would be very interested in anything you could find about the .col files. Currently they don't quite match with Dr Maturin new weather system, at all.

Good job working with the patch and grass generator ! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

I think we'll have to ask for this info over at Seaward, I can't realy find anything helpful in the Maya tutorials etc.

Let's hope they're not too busy....don't want to wait months to find out how to make the files.

Just for clarity's sake, can everybody who has been posting new character work here recently (eg. last half year) please tell me what files should be included in the next Alpha?

Hi,

I'll put all my stuff in a folder for ya Pieter....there's not that much anyway.
When you say next alpha.....when are you planning that for?

Thanks a lot! I don't know for when the new Alpha will be done; at the moment I only have Alpha 8 installed and I just want to get myself back up-to-date again.
Of course, once I managed that, I could upload my newly merged work for everybody to use.
BTW: The same question as above goes for new ship models! (ZarethPL, I'm looking at you! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> )

Getting back to topic....

Unless I'm wrong...to make col. files for locations,we need the SD2camExport.mll and the one we have is incompatable with Maya 5. So that means we're sunk on that score.

never knew we even had one but that aside incompatible as for newer version of maya or an even older ???

It was compiled on an older version Maya API....so that'll most likely be the 4.5 version that everything is supposed to have been created with.

Just have to see what else we can scrounge of the other side.

just great keeps getting better and where the hell would we find maya 4.5

im sure seaward or akella have a newer version of this plugin

I tried for ages to find Maya 4.5.....no luck at all.

I'll try get some info from seaward, but I think they're busy tying up loose ends with their projects ATM.

iv once found it but it was a linux version <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Hi,

I've just found out that the lighting files are not done in Maya, but are created after changing a loclighter config setting and then doing saves by keyboard command ingame.

Thanks kopcap for the info <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

I'll give it a try and write down how to do it for ya when I have some success with it myself.

What?! Did they make this game in a old bunker in the light from a candle or something? What a weird and complex way to make a game..I guess each location can have its own lightning this way, but still...editors or tools in the 20th century for the win <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hi,

The game has it's own lighting control console at the press of a button.... tinker about till you get the right lighting then save it to file. Been having a play about with it ...indoor & outdoor. Pretty cool realy.

Still playing about with this,...can't find the save file though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

What button do you have to press? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Hi,

I'm not working this out on my own <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> ,....got enough to do.

So try this:-

in RESOURCE\INI\loclighter.ini in the top
find loading.
do loading =1;

In game press num0. Choose like illumination and press "save light". Do this operation for each of time (morning, day and others)

Now you have as much info as I have.

Cheers....have fun.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" /> ....What a time for the rapid raid mod to kick in.......just been pounced upon by lots of soldiers in Tortuga tavern whilst in the middle of adjusting the light and ended up in the upstairs room instead.,(my fault for seeing if different buttons did anything).

Hi,

<u>WARNING.</u>
Back up the original files before testing.......found the new files. It saves and overwrites the originals.
