New Characters

Put it in modders section?

I might as well carry on doing all the Tortuga lighting files seeing as I'm messing about with this.

Just one thing for that location....it needs the ground texture file altering , the textured shadows all fall the wrong way.It looks daft.(What's Thomas up to <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />).

damski.

Wow ! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> That's sure something ! Fantastic !

I've just tested what you wrote Damski... On my computer the engine can set/change the lightning on buildings so quickly & easily using the 'presets' down in loclighter.ini that I'd really love to kick out the big space-consuming .col files system. We don't need it, and it would sure save some space, without altering the quality of the game!

About the issue with Dr Maturin new weather system : Dr Maturin made the sun azimuth & height to change depending on the current hour. Apparently, as he've mostly tested his work on sea mode, he didn't realised how awful it ended at land - buildings and ground shadows wouldn't match with the new sun position, at all !
Using your discovery Damski, I've noticed that when the engine sets up the preset values written in the loc.lighter.ini, it cares about where the sun is. It would be so great if there was a way to tell the engine to use those preset values all the time...

We can alter ground textures manualy but I think originaly they were render files from Maya.

That sounds very interesting, a simple virtual sailor! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

... yes, but I don't think we can manage to do that by our own - because some .dll files will surely have to be edited (Lighter.dll?).

Currently, at the loading of a location, our code send the folder location of the .col files :
in PROGRAM/Locations/locations_loader.c
<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->    //Set lighting path
    SendMessage(loc, "ls", MSG_LOCATION_LIGHTPATH, GetLightingPath());
    SendMessage(loc, "ls", MSG_LOCATION_SHADOWPATH, GetLmLightingPath());<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
GetLightingPath() and GetLmLightingPath() being in the Weather code of course.

I would prefer it to ask to apply one of the presets values in RESOURCE\INI\loclighter.ini instead...

Just a short note to say that I finally added capstan with upgrades and Ronald 2 into my game, so they will be included in the next Alpha.
It seems to me like these characters are just <i>begging</i> to be used in quests instead of at random.
Any thoughts on where we could use them?

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

About 10 hours left before my computer gets chucked in the back of a removal truck.
I'll be offline then for a few weeks, so I'll try get a couple of AOP models convertions to PoTC animation finished before shutdown.
Intended:-
Beatrice & Blaze Devlin models + any more I can fit in.
Hopefully I can get sorted with a new internet connection ASAP.

Have a nice trip, damski! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
Or..journey? Guess its not a trip if you wont return...

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> ,

Cheers Peter,

Beatrice Devlin is in my fixed character FTP folder <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Thats all folks.....see ya in a few weeks

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thpirateshipff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":piratesahoy!" border="0" alt="thpirateshipff.gif" />

Thanks for everything and see you in a couple of weeks! Good luck in the meantime! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Thanks again; I put her in my game now.
Now the "Beatrice" model is used for Beatrice Devlin and the "BeatriceA" model is used for Bonnie Devlin in the Devlin storylines.
I'm trying to reuse the same .an file for both characters; seems to work so far.

if we have a horse model, would it ever be possible for us to ride on one, or ride in a chariot to, lets say, go from speachtown to bridgetown?

Doesn't sound very possible, though it'd certainly be fun. Chases! Now THAT would be nice to have in a pirate game!

Cool, cool and unreleased. Any news, Damski? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

[attachment=2123:Blackbeard.jpg]

I've not been doing him for long but it's coming togeather steadily. Haven't started with the texture yet so he'll look alot different & hopefuly better when finished.

Sorry for the delay with releasing Jack.....been having a fit of stupidity, renamed the damn model in Maya...hence when exporting and testing I was still getting the same problems as before because the game wasn't using the new model <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> . So I've been pratting around all day trying to fix something that was already fixed.
Anyway it's OK now. Upload it as soon as poss.
Pieter.. the difference is that he works properly now and I added the cuffs & sash off Sir Christopher Mings Mad Jack model.
So credit for the model should also go to Kazeite for making him in the first place and Mr Mings for the parts added.

Thomas... if you feel the urge to tinker with the texture you may as well do the portraits for it too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
As for soldiers .. Yes,we could do with some new models, there are far too many 'I remember Jack Sparrow as whatever' texture variants.
Give me some pics for reference please Thomas & I'll see what I can come up with for you.
We could use the AOP ones as well but they look a bit naff in my opinion.

On another note, this is another little project I've been messing about with...
[attachment=2221:Tia_Dalma__WIP..jpg]
Early stages but it taking shape I think.(Nice girl ,but she had the worst case of crabs I've ever seen <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />).

Other ongoing work:-
Soldiers & musketeers.
Various other characters.
Horse,German Shepherd,Crocodile.
