New Generic Loading Screens

I like the fifth painting; looks like a nice ship repair picture.
Also for "New Game" and "Load Game", we could use pictures that we possibly couldn't use elsewhere.
So perhaps a port picture for "New Game" and one of those pictures with indian canoes as "Load Game"?

Personally I wouldn't be able to remove the flags; somebody else would have to do that.
I don't really mind the flags; except for the US flags, because that gives a too modern impression.
After all, the US only appear in the last two periods.

As for the painting and artist name, do you have any reasons for preferring it be left blank?
I haven't yet decided and some arguments might help.
On the one hand, the painting were made by people and I think they would deserve to be credited.
Not in the least because of copyright issues. Ugh! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
On the other hand, the text doesn't actually look like it belongs there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
 
The indian in canoes might look good, but the game take place in the Carribean - theses don't fit here, at all.

It should be rather easy to remove the flags with Photoshop.

You might be right about crediting the names of the people that did the paintings. But in all case, I wouldn't put the title of the painting, and would make so that the name isn't too visible. For the paintings that are already signed, I wouldn't add anything. But that's just me.
 
I'm actually surprised about those indians; I thought perhaps they were indians from Oceania or so, but they're actually from Canada and Alaska. It might be rather easy to remove the flags, but not for me. I'm not so much of a Photoshop wizard; I can just add some text and make collages and such. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Just the names would be an option; at least then it's less obvious when we use an inappropriate one. The Bounty at Pitcairn island is an awesome painting, but Pitcairn isn't exactly close to the Caribbean. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Naval screens? What do you mean?

They do look pretty cool, but they do have a distracting painting texture. I'm also not sure about their size.
Also, them being portrait rather than landscape would require a lot to be cut off from top or bottom if used for any loading screens. :?

I meant these screens ( Load - Save screen, Loading Build xx screen, Start New Game screen ) sorry I was not clear before.

I am not suggesting replacing all of them - I like the Start New Game one - it is just that they all look a bit Naval / Military in appearance - which might be a good thing since they show consistency.

I took them from bookcovers - after cutting off the title at the top. - which causes the strange size.

You can find other options there; replacing the ones we've got in use now should be pretty easy if I know what to replace it with.
